Hello, It may have struck some or none as the case may be( ) as to my absence since my last posting at Christmas.
I am afraid to say that on the night of Christmas Day I was taken into hospital with a rather bad infection of the foot.My foot swelled to approx. the size and colour of Ronald McDonald's boot. Being type two diabetic as well did not help and for the past eleven days I have been lying in hospital having antibiotics forced into my arms and body via IV, injections and almost every other means. The terms, "cabin fever" and "Stir Crazy" do not even begin to cover the frustration I felt at my own stupidity and confinement.
However I have been released back into the community at large and while still a little disorientated by the anitbiotics and other medicinal compounds, I shall endevor to post as often as I can.
I hope to start my avatars story within the next few days I hope you will enjoy it.
I remain your fellow Bon Bon-ian

Believe it or not. It was a tiny, two mm, cut in the big toe of my left foot just enough to let an infection in. I must of done it getting in or out of the shower/bath without realising it.
|
Seems someone needs to clean his bathroom then, eh?
Least you get a nice foxy hug for your return. lol |

I assume that would involve the removal of my foot with a sword?
My uncle, whom in real life I am named after, had a similar problem with his foot. In his case an ingrowing toe nail. Being type one diabetic, gangerine set in and he had his leg, removed piece by piece as the surgeons tried to keep ahead of the infection. Sadly my uncle succumed to the infection and passed away.
But I really do appreciate the thought. Thank you. |

Welcome back, fellow sufferer! I too encountered some misery during the "joyous" season. I have a broken left arm, right hand, and nose, along with a fractured right leg, a sprained ankle, and bruised ribs, following a little incident down at the railroad museum I volunteer for. Long story-short, I was working as brakeman, and, ever-so gracefully, slipped off of the top of a boxcar that we were getting ready to switch. |

Thank you too my dear for the hug, All hugs are equally welcome at any time, more so at this moment.
As to ferrets I have always found them rather endearing animals, full of energy and fun. Once again thak you for your hug and kind words. "Returns hug and kisses the ferretess on the forehead." |

I tend to bounce in such circumstances, knock on wood(taps head) I have never been unfortunate enough to break anything. That said, I do have enough scar tissue for a regiment.
I can understand how you feel and I hope that you will feel better soon and be back on your feet as soon as possible. |

Heh, so do I (usually, anyway....). Unfortunately, I didn't fall from the side of the car and onto the ballast; I fell from the end of the car, hit the knuckle coupler on the way down, and that threw me into the rail. In retrospect, I could be sporting a neck brace too, so I'm not too down about it. Two of my family members are diabetics, including my father, and I am currently pre-diabetic, so I feel for you there. |

Well, I'll leave the turning my words to actual historical fact to you two. Your far better suited than me trying to thumb through Wikipedia. |

Hey, those things are stylish.
....And nurse, you say? *Levels hammer over other leg*
And give Wikipedia a little more credit, there. Sure, they're wrong about 99.8% of the time, but that other .2% is some damn good information. |

Shoot, let's give the two guys with the Simon Blue avatars a hand for being tough S.O.B.s! I just got over a hideous stomach flu, felt like I was going to die, but reading the description of both of your ailments/injuries, I feel like a complete wuss in comparison!
Still, white-hot liquid death pouring out of both ends aint fun...
BTW, I always forget which type of diabetes is which. Is type 1 where you need constant insulin shots, or is that the one where you can control it with diet? We've got a lot of diabetes in my family as well (including my dad, who's controlling his with diet and testing his blood-sugar daily). |
