Well, with phrases like "You dirty rat." Then there was NIMH, where the villian was a rat...The Great Mouse Detective (A favorite of Vanessa's if I recall right). But at least the he tried to put up an appearance of a gentleman, as long as you didn't call him a rat to his face. |

Back on topic, I've noticed rats don't get a very good rap in the "furry" community. Crooks, theives and worse... Maybe that's the reason I chose one. Wanting to be different with a dash of self-depracation thrown in for good measure, lol.

It might have to do with many peopel thinking of rats as disease-ridden vermin that live in sewers. They might be easy to think of as unsavory characters.
I think it's a cool choice though. It a common animal, but an uncommon choice for a fursona. |

The unpopularity of the beast will win out in the end, I'm afraid.
Maybe I should have gone with something more lovable, like a chinchilla.
*sigh* Hindsight is 20/20 I suppose... |

Bah. Since when has Bon Bon become a popularity contest? There isn't a true calling to be something unique and loveable. How many vixens do we have with us, and each is accepted and has their own niche. Mainly based on their actions and attitude, yes?
I think rat was a fine choice. ^_^ |

I did have an idea for a rat charicter that was anal about keeping her home clean. But every potental love interest mistakes what she means by anal. |

I can't remember whether it was said here or somewhere else, but it does seem that certain similar animals are chosen depending on the gender of the character. For instance, there are far more male rats than females, but there are far more female mice than males. Sorry if I'm repeating what someone's already said in the thread. |

Here's a species question... in the anthro world, did the Black Plague happen? If so, is my rat partially responsible??
Not personally, but species wise? Is there rat hatred?
"He's got plague!" "Away with the vermin!!"
"It was the fleas, not me!!"
*angry mob* |

I haven't seen anything suggesting that there exist such racism in the world of Bon Bon, but it was one of the original questions I raised with this thread. I was wondering if people of Bon Bon look at different species in different ways. Obviously there are some who have preferences, like Violet liking stallions, and Mary hoping to meet a handsome cat, but I don't think that there are any who look down on certain other species. a rat is probably as liked and respected as any other species in Bon Bon. |

*scratches head* thats a good question, if we're being historically acurate(bearing in mind that people here like to be historically accurate) then i suppose yes it did happen. perhaps you could ask vannesa in the "ask vannesa a question" thread. seeing as how this is her world.
as for you fursona, and any doubts you might be having, i can honestly say that you have chossen one of the more unique fursonas on here. in fact, now that i think about it, i have'nt come across any rat type fursoas in the furry community... 'course im still new to it myself. |

True, in most of furry fandom, you'll find more male wolves than female, and female foxes (vixens) than male. Some species just seem to lean more toward a certain gender in some people's minds...
|
You are right Johnny, looks like I'm the only male reptile here. I hope that In the future there will come more female reptiles.
But you species are just good for both sexes. I wonder when a female coyote enters bonbon
|
BonBon already has a female coyote... Miss Daisy Nugget. |

I thought that the flees where carrying the black plague? And the one of many reasons that so much died was that personal hygiene was not so good as now, they sold old dirty clothes from person who just died to others.
"But you are a mine worker, so I have to take care of you problem." Henk takes Ernest to a bath house. "So those old clothes get burned right now just like mine." Henk rips his and the rat clothes off a put them in a fire place. "Oke lets was and have some fun with THEM!" 10 girls are giggling at them. |

Thank you, sahr! I'm not so sure if it's a good idea to mention something to Vanessa about a horrible contagion that wiped out half of Europe. Prolly should just keep it on the "theory" tip. |
