I can't believe someone actually fell for that. |

I wasn't sure whether to believe it or not. When I read another topic, where you mentioned that Mystic is your ex-girlfriend, though, I knew something was definitely up. |

So it's okay to drool on BOTH? |

It comes from playing too many MMOs. Very rarely is that female avatar actually played by a woman. My old roommate used to get some incredibly graphic private messages in CoH and WoW just from playing a female character. He never solicited the advances and when pushed for details about his real life he'd always respond with something along the lines of, "I'm here to play a game not talk about that."
|
One of my friend's creations for City of Heroes was (and I'm guessing as the spelling as I don't recall it offhand) Amanat Kybord, the sluttiest, most over-bimbofied character he could create. He calls it ingenious, I call it clown car. |

I've never used a female character in a game, though it's not something that's unheard of to me. I've heard of some "female" gamers getting a lot of free stuff from others in MMO's, simply by acting slutty.
|
As an active player in MMOs, I can say that this kind of thing is becoming less and less common. While it's extremely common to have a male using a female character, anyone hitting on a female avatar is a sign of an obvious Internet moron. In fact, people treating a video game as some kind of online meat market only have two kinds of outcomes. One, they come onto every "girl" they find and eventually get banned for sexually abusive behavior. Two, the scammers quickly latch onto them, offering to "cyber" or other stupidity in trade for their loot and/or personal information, and the next day they will find themselves broke as they gave away crap or had their account hacked.
I think people confuse a video game character as some kind of representation of the person playing them. As if this made any kind of sense at all. Since the invention of Lara Croft in Tomb Raider, guys have been playing female characters in video games.
Most MMOs are often so generic and PG-rated anyway. There's few situations where your gender is even recognized by a NPC, and most of them don't let you date or have a relationship officially with anybody. There are some games that allow fans to "get married" to other avatars, but I've noticed that this is less and less promoted as this kind of useless garbage only encourages the previously-mentioned bad online behavior. |

Correction Chaos, drool over them, not onto them. I'd prefer to keep my backside nice and dry unless I'm in the shower thank you.
Tadelesh, don't let him freak you. *Takes hold of her breasts with both hands* These are most certainly real. |

Hallelujah!!

Take that as a compliment, Mystic, you could make a man change jerseys.

Well, that would certainly help explain how my character can successfully sway a gay man. |

I hope your referring to RP sessions online, and not waking up to find he's not wearing the wig anymore. |

Yes, indeed I am. There have been a couple of times when I've RPed being intimate with someone online (as Tadelesh, or another character) where I found out afterwards that the person behind the character was a male. It's a.. disconcerting.. experience. I don't do one-night stands in real life, so I'll never get myself into that sort of situation, though thanks for the lovely mental imagery there. |

I often find that, if your connecting so well with the character and you don't plan on ever meeting the person in-person, then don't bother to find out who's behind the character. Simply enjoy them for the character. |

It's not like I asked them what gender they really are. They just told me. Which elicited the following reaction from me: "Whoa." I know some people aren't bothered about it, but it always feels awkward for me if that happens. |

Well, if the rumors are true, it shouldn't surprise many to find out a female is being played by a male. The real perplexing situation will be when a man turns out to be a woman. |

*Laughs* You want to know a funny story, Mystic? When I first got onto this wild internet more than a decade ago, I noticed how much... attention females got. I did not want any of that. So, until... 2002? I always said I was a guy. For seven years, I told anyone one who asked. When I finally let it slip I was female, my online friends were... very shocked. |

Well, I have met one man before who was a woman. Thing about that was, though, that I knew the woman already, as a woman. |

At first that would seem shocking, but given your reasons, that sounds very sane and fair to me. |
