Something I learned while gone: Yelling "Look out!" when there is a helicopter coming at you doesn't work that well... helicopters are loud.... and really really fast.

Sorry, I was tired when I posted that so further explanation as requested.
Part of my job while on ship is to load cargo onto outgoing helicopters in various ways. One of those ways is what is known as a vert-rep, i stand on the flight deck holding a long pole with a loop at the tip which is attached to a cargo net full of cargo. The bird comes in, i hook up the cargo and get out of the way. Then came the day someone forgot to tell me and my partner that there was another bird coming right after the one taking my cargo... and someone forgot to tell the pilot that we were going to be there... Lets just say that things got interesting and I almost went for a swim. |
