Opening his hand quickly, he looks at Rhoda, "I...," a sad look on his face, as his mind flashes back to a letter he received 2 days before, "It's nothing don't worry about it."

He tries to smile again, but it was obvious he was lying through the forced smile.

"Alex, what's wrong? Please, tell me." Rhoda said frowning slightly and placing her hands on his shoulders.

Looking up into Rhoda's eyes.

Reaching into a pocket in the small vest he is wearing he pulls out a folded piece of paper, he unfolds it and hands it to Rhoda.

the paper reads.

"Dear Alex,

I know it's been a long time but i was on a trip when i heard of a problem in a small village involving a wolf attacking the mayor.
going from the description i knew it was you, so i hired a detective to look for you.
I have no intention of coming for you, or to have you come home.
Your mother is ill, but even now she hasn't forgiven you.
the detective has a package for you, please accept it, since it's probably the last time i'll ever make contact with you, the detective is only to deliver the package, other than that he isn't to inform anyone of where you are.

Be safe my son.

Rhoda read the letter and paused for a second "..... Alex.... what does this mean?" she asked, slightly confused by the letter.

Looking at the letter a moment before looking back into Rhoda's eyes, "My mother is one to hold a grudge," he says quietly, "and that letter means that even if she dies she doesn't want me there."

His shoulders slouch a bit, "The package it mentions," pointing his finger at the letter, "is my father telling me don't come home because i don't have a home with them anymore."

"So what? My parents didn't care about me even when I was little. But look how I turned out. I know they're your family but you shouldn't dwell on the past for too long." Rhoda said with a bright smile.

Finally he began to smile a little, "Thanks Rhoda," he says with the sadness in his voice fading, "but it's a little more than dwelling."

"The thing with my parents is they are more than just stubborn," avoiding direct eye contact with Rhoda, "They are in the top 5 richest families in england."

"So? My family was rich as well. But being hated by them doesn't bother me." Rhoda said with a smile as she took Alex's hands in her own.

Alex looked Rhoda in the eyes for a moment than turned his head towards his left shoulder with a bit of an embarrased look in his eyes but pivoting his scarred ear to face her.

"did your father give you enough money to buy a city?" he asks without turning his head back, his eyes staring at the floor.
