Hello everyone! The psyco's back, and on enough pain killers to satify the pains of a horse. Oh well, they make me happy at least.
I see Dennis managed to do what I asked and stop by with my message. Thank you all so much for your thoughts. I really appreciate it. He came and picked me up today and said that there were a few responses, but I never expected to see that. So again, thank you all very much.
I suppose I could take a moment to explain just what happened, though I myself am still a little vague on it... Wednesday of last week, my patroll unit was out in rough weather, and I mean ROUGH weather. I don't remember exactly what lead up to it, but I know that I was trying to maneuver the boat over a particurly large swell, when a second swell came in fron of us in the opposite direction, a cross-swell. (i.e, If you weren't sure, swell=wave) I guess my bow must have hit something the wrong way, and when it did, last thing I remember is getting thrown head first into the enstrument panel. After that, I woke up in a hospital with my head wrapped and the worst fuckin' headache I think anyone has ever known. Luckily, the rest of my unit was safe. I guess my engineer managed to somehow hold the boat steady until a second unti could come for assistance. But yeah....
But, the important thing is, everyone's safe, everyone was fine, and I got a few days paid medical leave . Thank you again everyone for your thoughts and prayers. I'M BACK! *salutes in thanks* |

Glad to hear you're doing well! Sounded pretty nasty, too...it's a good thing that you didn't end up with a concussion. I have a friend who is serving overseas as well, so I would like to offer my thanks for what you guys are doing.
*salutes* |

Welcome back, Feingo, I'm glad you're okay. And now you have a story to tell when you're carrying your kids and grand kids on your shoulders. |

Not at all Revan. There's nothing gay about a friendly hug.
Yeah, I'm still in one peice. I was lucky I hit my head. There's nothing up there to hurt anymore.

Well, if that were the case, you would'nt have gotten a few days paid medical leave. |

This talk of stories to grand children reminds me of a joke on a friend of Labrn and mine. I don't think it'll go over as well, as inside jokes never do, but he's quite the fan of the cold. We're talking T-shirt and Jeans in 15 degree F. I'll leave it to our math wizards to calculate that to Celsius for our European friends.
"And one time kids, I had to wear a sweater."

Thank you all for the warm welcome back!
Oh, BTW, you think 15 F is cold? Try that same temperature out at sea with a -30 Wind chill factor. HOOOEY! What a rush! |

Well, thankfully, I've never been in temperatures much lower than freezing (i.e. freezing point of water, 0C/32F). |

Surprisingly it is, never have I ever been more at peace then when I was there. Once I accepted that I may have been killed at any moment everything faded, stress, worries, even fear. It is difficult to explain to those who have not felt it before but it was oddly comforting. |

I get the same feeling when in a match or when I play music. Though, since my life is not in danger, I doubt it compares. |
