I agree, we might Know a way to get your old PC rig to work agean. Such as if it was a virus causeing havok with your system, You may just need to back up the files you want to keep and format the hard drive and reinstall the OS. for example

True, some of those things can truly bring down a comp.

It's best to take it to a specialist or a repair shop.

Viruses are a serious bother but hopefully the problem with you PC is not because of a virus. I have whose laptop started messing up every time he tried to use the keyboard, and then he found out the keyboard was the problem. But either way is good that you already bought a new one, my friend found out he was going to be charged a lot of money just to get the keyboard fixed. So I guess buying a new one is much better, but is just my opinion! Smile

Figures... a girl posts that "her computer is acting up again", and everyone and their dog offers help. You know, I'm not helpless. I grew up with the freaking Apple IIgs, and I can remember the old 1st gen, 286 IBM PCs.

I just wanted to say why my posting might be erratic for the next few days.))

((Well, I've never done the whole "damsel-in-distress" thing well, and I take help even worse.

I just wanted to let you all know why my posting might be irregular, if Pandemonium decides to act up.

It isn't a virus or anything like that. Pandemonium is just old. Like... six years old... which is practically 42 years in dog terms.))

I'm actually impressed then that you maintained your computer for such a long period of time.

Hehe, you must be pretty good at maintaining you PC still functioning. I would cry in despair if something were to happen to my laptop, I mean I know how to use a computer but I would be clueless if I had to fix one!
Thank god nothing like that has happened to me, and I hope nothing will! Smile

Okay guess I had better say, six year old computer just deserted me spectacularly...hard drive total crash, not even the best tech I could find could even make the evil old thing fire up. New and impreoved computer now working, new operating system and same old "technical idiot" as I called myself at the keyboard.

Best of luck with the new comp, by the way in comp years (12 for every one), your comp is actually 72!!!

Rule of thumb, always keep back up copys of important documents and files you want to keep. As far as a harddrive failure goes, if it's just the harddrive you can replace it, you just need the to rember to have the driver cd and the OS cd (most store bought PCs com witha cd with the os and the drivers in a cd (so dont loose it.))
