Silence filled the open firing range on the outskirts of town before a staccato of gunfire erupted, shattering whatever vestiges of peace there was. Not wanting to disturb the residents with ear splitting blasts and the vulgar smell of gunpowder, Runai Kaltsere opted to have his little 'anger management' where he could be away from the prying eyes of onlookers. Not that many people would really be spying since the mainstream business of Bon Bon was into a more 'pleasurable' outlet for people, rather than use their hard earned money using old fashioned rifles like 'Mina' in a dusty old quarry in the middle of practically nowhere.
Whenever Rune was especially angry, such as today, it was only natural for him to go to the only place he could divert that energy against inanimate objects, rather than going on a killing spree and ransack the entire town. Not that he could when better shots like Six-Killer Johnny and Jonathan Stall still prowled about like hawks when something bad goes down. Still, it was not in his nature to do such things. Luckily, when he found the old quarry where most of the building materials came from when the town was being constructed, it turned into one of his saving graces, not just for his safety, but the safety of everyone else. Thus, a rather carefully configured firing range was born.
He sighed, watching the paper target practically fall apart with each blast that was directed towards it. A miss every now and again, but it did help with his calming process. There was one problem, however, when it came in the form of a letter addressed from his parents. Four years and they wanted to practically force down his dreams of his own business just to take over the family's instead, which was meerly the life of an innkeeper. Runai's parents were not bad in their intention to help him have a prosperous life, but when they continued to smother him and set up 'blind' dates with the various village girls as he was coming of age, it only proved that choices of having a life outside of Liadja grew more unlikely. |
