Recently, I have come about with some time to watch this movie. Being a fan of the original series with Daniel and Mr. Miyagi, I went into the theatre with high hopes of there being elements from the first. Suffice to say, the movie exceeded my expectations, despite it being a nearly three hour long movie.
The story is about a young man named Dre Parker, living with his single mother after losing his father three years ago. When his mother was transferred to a car manufacturing facility in Beijing, China, Dre's world slowly began to crash around him as he tried to adapt to this new world. When confronted by a gang of aggressivly trained fighters, Dre gains not only the chance of a lifetime in participating in a martial arts tournament, he entrusts his training to the only teacher could turn to, the apartment repairman, Mr. Han.
When I saw this movie, I was really impressed with how the story flowed so well, especially with how the creators integrated both elements from the First and Second movies from the original series. Jackie Chan played an integral role in his part as a teacher, and how even the teacher can learn something from the student (Which we learn a great personal truth later on)
On a scale of 1-10, I would give this movie a solid 10. |
