No i am not kidding about this. One of my local radio stations got going on Chrsitmas carols on Halloween. initally when i heard it i though it might have been pumpking carols (if you don't know what those are, shame on you for not paying attention to Charlie Brown). However much to y dismay they were in fact Christmas Carols. Anyway what i'm wondering is what you consider the acceptable starting date for christmas carols. FOr me, its after we've played alice's restaurant on thanksgiving. And for those of you who haven't heard of that, well younger generation I can't blame you, and un fortunately i can't find it posted anywhere in its entirety. feel free to look, or legally download it. it defnitely worth the price. |

I agree with Evan and his source, Lewis Black. Christmas is Christmas and it's a $%^&ing WINTER holiday. Why in %^&*'s name does it have to start in the middle of fall?!?
When it comes to Christmas, I can't help but be reminded of Nazi Germany and their invasion of Poland. We knew it wasn't right when it took Thanksgiving, but what did we do to stop it? Oh yeah, nothing, just were like "Shame on you." Now it's moving on Halloween. Will it take reindeer kamikazes to stir us into battle against the Claus regime? |

i agree its bad enough they want half of every sunday they cant even let us have any other holidays every freaking year i see christmas creep ever closer personally i think the mians and nostradamus had it wrong the world wont end in 2012 but in 50 years or so when christmas finally spreads across the entire year and eventually meets itself at this point the universe will fold in on itself and explode like a big christmas cracker destroying all existence in one big merry one horse freaking bang of course i will be safe as i will be ready within the only known shelter capable of resisting such a powerful christmas event, my local synagogue or if you cant find one try a mosque though you may have to cover your face |

It's ridiculous that people keep preparing for Christmas earlier and earlier. I even saw a year-round Christmas shop when I was on vacation once. |

This. I went to the dollar store about a week before Halloween this year, because I needed fake blood for my costume, and they'd already replaced most of their Halloween stuff with Christmas stuff. |

Now that just hurts.
I have to agree with the rest. Halloween season starts up on October 1st. Thanksgiving season starts up on November 1st. Christmas season starts up at least a week after Thanksgiving Day, if not December 1st. It does'nt irk me if people do their Christmas shopping before the season starts. Shop whenever you want, it's your money. But when I start seeing Christmas decorations up everywhere before Thanksgiving, I start to grit my teeth and clench my fists. That's my opinion of it. And I also have to agree with Louis Black. Sooner or later, we're going to have Christmas season all year round. It seems inevitable. |

Christmas Carols during Halloween? That's rather stupid. I don't start listening to christmas music till after Thanksgiving. Once you hit Black Friday and after that, it's fine, but...Halloween? For crimony sakes here! A few weeks ago the one house just down the street had their Christmas lights up and ON! I was like 'wtff?!?!' Last night the people across the way were putting theirs up. It's like they want to get them up now and not worry about it when it's cold out. |

Christmas has become so commercialized that a lot of people have forgotten the true meaning of it. I agree that it drives me nuts when I see people putting up Christmas decorations and it's not even freaking Thanksgiving! C'mon, people, let's have some taste. |

To be honest, I sort of realize that Christmas is the only holiday that gets as much attention for it. It really comes down to how close some of the other holidays are as to why there's a bigger difference.
Right after New Years, expect to see valentine cards and stuff, then as soon as Valentine's Day comes around, expect to see the St. Patrick's Day decorations, and as soon as the day of drunken stupidity comes around, get ready to see Easter stuff.
Then there are some things that just go better with music, like this: Example |
