Ok, so for the past few days ive been meeting quite a few furrys. But, I found out they all have somthing that makes them the same. They were all white. Infact, I havnt met anyone whos a furry, who isnt white. Is it just me? Am I somehow racist, and thats forcing me too avoid furrys who arnt white? |

Perhaps subconsciously you are just seeking a change. Not so much avoiding white, but rather, seeking non-whites for a bit of diversity? |

I never really noticed it before but I see what you're saying. Now I haven't been out doing "meet-and-greets" (my current situation kinda prevents that) but everyone that I have met is also white.
I don't have any issue with this at all, just a curiosity. |

Well, I never really considered color when I joined. I really only looked at the community in general because of a single common interest in the creating of a persona that was different from our appearance. Besides, don't most of our fur colors seem different apart from each other anyways? We have Violet is well....... um violet, Betty is a golden brown color, Betty is blue, Polyanna is green, etc. So even if the person who is white or black joins, its not that really big of a deal. |

It's not a 'deal' rune, it's a simple curiosity that has been noticed. Like the "Why are most furries gay?" curiosity. I doubt anyone has a major problem with it, it's just one of those things we idly wonder about. |

I'm sorry if this seems like a ridiculous question, but are you talking about furries with white fur or furries who people behind them who are white? I'm guessing the latter but I'm still slightly confused. |

Ashton, I'm in the same boat. I think you guys are referring to the RL people behind the furries? Cause if its the actual furries, there is a lot of diversity of the fur color.
Which of course says that its the first option.
I've never really thought about it, is it really that much of a disparity? |

He's referring to furries being Caucasian. And the answer is simple: Only white people generally have the luxury to get such silly notions into their heads like being a fur fan. Like it or not, our little pastime here is quite distinctly a bit of weird decadent culture.
Couple that with the typically quite conservative upbringing of most minority groups, and you have a recipe that leads to a situation where non-whites tend to be left out, despite no one making any conscious choice to do so.
Of course, as times change, so does this. I imagine there is a fair bit more color in our little demographic these days. Not to mention that Asian people have long been a part of our group. I mean, it's a weird, highly-sexualized, infamous den of deviancy. I'm sure that Japan has a large presence here in addition to the USA and Europe. |
