Just saw the WIP. I like what I see so far and it's great to finally see some background on her. |

I'm guessing an arranged marriage that she wants nothing to do with. |

Yeah, I thought the same thing when I saw Violet in a wedding dress and the way the pair of people, whom I believe are her parents, have that look in their eyes like they are about to pawn their daughter off. Her mother has that look like she was'nt too keen on the idea, and the young man looks like a friend of hers, possibly one who loves Violet enough to help her out of the situation. I'm guessing that must be her reasoning for going to Bon Bon in the first place, meeting Betty, and everything else ultimately drawing her into the Violet we know today. This is only an assessment, not a very thorough evaluation. |

It sure does look like an arranged marriage...one she probably don't want to go through with. Anyway, it'll be exciting to see Violet's background story ^_^ |

Probably is an arranged marriage, though I admit it's pretty interesting to see Violet in a normal dress.
Her parents seem to look very sweet, at least. Particularly the mother. They looking like they're getting old. Perhaps they're increasingly desperate in trying to ensure their daughter has a secure life? After all, there are not many career options for a single woman of an upper class.
Also, I note with some pleasure that the location looks pretty different from what we've seen in Bon Bon. Pine forests, rolling hills, rugged snow capped mountains, wild grasses and wild flowers, and a more colonial architecture... I'd say it's in the northeast of the USA or Canada. Wonder if Ms. Santato was listening if I speculated Violet was an American expatriate? |

The girls that come to Bon Bon come to change their lives and feel free, and because there their privacy is respected. At that time the girls were betrothed also to men that they did not love, and this is what happenned to Violet, that ran from the altar... but we'll talk of this again in the future.

I believe this is an important piece of evidnece in this dilemma.
Thank you for bringing that up Symphony. |

((You know, gang, not all arranged marriages are bad. Violet could be "sad" for any number of reasons. Maybe she just has marriage jitters. Maybe her mom became ill thje night before. I kinda like the lamely romantic idea that Violet actually was looking forward to getting married, and it's something else bothering her. )) |

Yeah, but its always nice to put that kind of input, it shows we are doing more than just trying to look at porn half the time. It separates us from alot of the primal driven porn botters. |

((Shoot, what if it wasn't arranged at all, but was an honest, old love, marriage. I mean, it would be awesome if Violet were more at BonBon for escapeism. She was looking forward to getting married, and the groom died in a train wreck. So,she wears the gown knowing she'll be a bride. She works at PBB because she knows she won't get hurt again. And then she meets William... And now she has to deal with a lot of emotions and feelings that she's long buried. And that adds one more love triangle to the story. Way cooler than her being depressed about an arranged marriage.)) |

((That is a good point. There are alot of ways to interpret the page, so its hard to draw a clear picture of what is really happening. I guess we will have to wait until we get the truth in the long run.)) |

Well on TV and stuff, the stereotypical depection is that of being forced and unhappy for at least one the participants. |

The full comic will be draw by various artists, me included.
I worked with 5 artist for the first pages.
The first page is done by two artists ( I did the layout) :
Elena Mirulla for the pencils and some ink and then Riccardo Petrelli has fixed and cleans up all the ink and color it, adding the background and all the plants.
I will show you the first version of the page 1 by Elena soon in the wip area before Riccardo's partecipation so you will see the differences. |

usualy the sterio types for forced marrage are A, a woman getting engaded to some one she doesnt like but goes through with it due to socal and parrental pressure. or B, a guy finaly falls in love with a woman as he sees the glem off of her father's shotgun. |

A comic that is collaborated by many guest artists sounds really cool. |

Reminds me of a line from a skit on Robot Chicken; "Sato says, Shotgun Wedding is a matter of wife or death." |

As do I. Having another side to Violet's reasoning to be in Bon Bon certainly has my interest piqued. |

Why did the phrase "runnaway bride" come into my head when I saw this pick of Violet? I sure there is a great story to be told here and I can't wait to see it. |

I see the new wip recently, gorgoues suit, and i do agree it is probably arranged marriage, she become sad, and it made her ran away to bon bon
ya know....to add more twist, i have a feeling her previous groom will come to bon bon looking for her
