While thinking of a possible idea for another thread, I realized that I'm not sure I fully understand all the functions that the Delight Castle has.
We know, of course, that it's a place for the working girls of Bon Bon. There's also the casino, and there's a ballroom as well.
But what else goes on in the Delight Castle? Are there activities for the townsfolk who aren't looking to gamble or have sex? My impression so far has been that it might also function as a hotel for the wealthy customers. What kind of other forms of entertainment are available? Any musical or theatrical performances?
I'm just wondering how much of a centre of activity the Delight Castle is in Bon Bon. |

((Well, I always kinda envisioned Castle Delight to be more of a "general recreation center". You do have to cater to the fancies of your clientel, after all.
So... not only do you have the exotic fun of wine, women, and gambling but you have such other entertainments as:
--a full library
--a walking garden / maze
--small musical concerts (which we have seen hosted by Bon Bon)
--magic shows
--portraits and photographs
--tennis / shuffleboard
--croquet
--horseshoes
--billiards/pool
--equestrian activities, like horseback riding or displays of agility
--chess/checkers/backgammon/cribbage
Basically activites that have "events" determine the outcome instead of things done against a timer.
Shoot, PBB might even host civil activities like
--public announcements/debates
--town hall meetings
--local news kiosk/informtion/bill board
All that sort of stuff you do on leisure time. Anyway, that was always my take on the castle.
Um... I just realized that the "equestrian activities" could have all sorts of amusing double-entendre meanings for you, Symphony... yeah, i know... lame humor.)) |

Yes, that is pretty much my impression of the castle as well. That it's a place for most people of Bon Bon to socialize and have fun. It appears to have a very fine restaurant as well.
I think the magic shows are pretty certain to take place with Stella the magician there.
I'm not sure how many outdoor activites take place at the Delight Castle. So far we've only really seen it from the inside, I think, so it's difficult to tell how much of the surrounding area belongs to the castle.

I don't see boxing going on at the castle personally. The place strikes me as being too genteel for that. |

A pool party actually sounds fine to me, especially when everybody gathers around in swimsuits for a group photo. |

If you go looking for actual Victorian swimwear, I imagine you'll be sorely disappointed. It's probably more covering than the clothes many of you are wearing right now.
Of course, this being Bon Bon, I'm sure we'd... cut back on the frills a bit.
As for other activities, I suppose I am always up for a game of chess and a show. I'm usually too smart to gamble. I learn why I do not swiftly each time I forget. |

I was thinking (a little off topic) that the castle would also be the political center of the town with all of the hated but necessary offices ... Tax assessor, water and gas, health and safety ... Etc. While the castle may be the entertainment center of the town ... It's also it's heart. There is a lot going on in the background to successfully manage a growing community. |

I've always thought there'd be a town hall in Bon Bon for that. The Delight Castle just doesn't seem like the right place for such offices, though I can easily imagine business meetings being held there.
I do think that you're right that it might be the heart of Bon Bon, though. |

I could see tests of skill happening between guests. Trying to get a girl by showing what you can do best/beating someone else at it. |

HAHA, Tearlach, you had me rolling on the ground with how simple and yet funny that joke was.
I wasn't entirely sure if there was a tax system and where it would be placed if it existed.

Delight Castle does seem to have adequate room for those offices. But, well... I dunno, it just feels like it would be a bit of a stretch. True Ronald does take care of all the accounts of DC within the castle, but thats for the castle and thats really the only example I can think of. |

I could very easily see a separate town hall as Symphony suggests ... It's not very clear though if there's an actual town government. We speak of Queens and princesses; I guess I assumed the town was a small kingdom complete with it's own monarchy. (And we all know how royals like to keep the purse strings close |
