Don't kick a dog up the arse when you've got your hand in it's mouth.
Old Yorkshire saying.

(("Woah, wait a sec. Back up the double-decker love bus of sin and debauchery. "

I can't remember where I first heard that, but it absolutely stopped whatever it was we were talking about.))

Basically it means " Don't go doing some thing really stupid when you are already in danger of getting hurt."

And Yorkshire is a north-eastern county of England, famous for Cricket and puddings. love Tongue

Another good saying from scotland is " Aye, and if my aunt had balls she would be my uncle"
Meaning if the situation was different, OK, but it's not.

We're a bit off topic here this should be in General Discussions, not PBB, but I'm sure that'll be fixed soon ^^. Anyway for a local saying, we've got "Where in the Sam Hill's that?"

I'm from New Jersey USA and we only have one local saying ... but it is from Bruce Springsteen (One of our local heroes Wink Just before the Governor shot down changing our state song to "Born in the USA" Evidently some one actually listened to the words and realized it was about avoiding the draft.

"If you can't see the air and smell the water it isn't Jersey"

Well, my grandma used to say this old saying. Still can't figure out why she used to say it though.

"Camaron que se duerme, se lo lleva la corriente."
(Translation: "Shrimp that falls asleep, is taken by the current.")

It basically means, 'Don't let a chance past by you, or you might not get it again.'

I'm sure this will be moved by Ronald, seeing as it is in the wrong place.
