My dad took me to the DMV for my permit test. Nervous as I was because I only had one day to study** I woke up around 7:30 eastern standard US time and took care of the dogs after getting dressed. Dad picked me up about 8:30 and we headed off after I gave him his birthday present(yea it was his birthday today). We arrived about 9:35 and waited in the short line. After the person ahead of me was called in, I then waited about half an hour till I was called in. I went in, dad behind me and sat down. The guy there told my dad he wouldn't be needed at that moment, so dad wished me luck and went to sit and wait. The guy looked at the documentation I provided, had me do the eye exam, then uploaded the test on to the computer, told me which one to go to, wished me luck and...off I went. I sat down, put on the headphones, prayed, and started. It was 18 multiple choice, needed to get 15 out of 18 right to pass. Fellow members of BonBon...I stand proud because on my first try...I passed!*does and anime victory pose with her right hand up and the index and middle fingers in the shape of a V* I waited for the guy to be done with another person, took care of what needed to be done, got my dad so he could write the check(I'm flat broke so dad had to pay for it XD) and after that...we were on our way^^
We stopped at a Rita's water ice stand on the way back as a 'you still owe me for lancing my finger' treat(long story short: had something on my right index finger, was infected slightly, dad had to take a needle and lance it to drain in, there was no puss{good thing}, but there was blood and plenty of pain, am on antibiotics for it, no pain and it is healing), but also as a 'Happy Birthday Dad' and an 'I passed the test' treat^^ Once done there, we made a quick stop at the local mall, went in, got cards for my aunt(his sister) as he birthday is next week, then continued to my place. i was home by 1:30, which was fine, with it being hot I didn't want to be out all day with the dog stuck at home.
So in all...I had a good day^^ i have my permit, he's going to look into some driving schools so I can get some practice in(I don't want to do driving with my mom, she'll drive me nuts and I doubt she'd trust me with her Envoy anyway since it's the ONLY car we have) and once I feel confident...I'll take my chance with the driving test.
**I say one dayto study because Monday I went for checkup, tuesday it was so hot I couldn't concentrate, wednesday I got a little studying in, and yesterday i was at a ball game). |

Congrats, hopefully on Monday, I can say we share a similar victory...
Though at 23, I should hardly consider getting my permit a victory. Let's not forget that the only reason I'm even getting any help on the matter is because I need to have a license for the fall semester if I want to actually stand a chance at finishing college.
I could continue on to a long and hateful tirade, but it's probably best if I leave it at this. |

way to go Kudos to you and all you been through. Once you get your own wheels you're gonna love the freedom it offers and the downsides too. However on a plus side when your Mom drives you up a wall you can get in and drive somewhere peaceful to rebalance yourself. |

I got my license about a month ago myself, and it is a feeling that feels great. Since my dad had to leave, I had to have transportation, and since I had a car, the license was the final key I needed, and my dad leaving was the final push I needed to get it. I have to say I'm pretty good for it. I found out later the day I got my license that I was only one of five people out of 20 that day to pass the test. Texas is passing a new law making it more difficult to get one's license. You fail the parallel parking, instant fail. Go beyond the lines on the road, fail. Hit another vehicle, oh boy, fail and repair fees. Most of the others failed because of the parallel parking since it was the first thing they test you on. |

Yes...beware*cackles* I'm glad I got it. All I need is to get the practice in and once i've got my licence, I need a car...which I think my dad will help me with that. |
