Does anyone here know anything about video editing and copying from DVDs?

Ya; do you need a Digital Copy of the DVD or simply a ISO copy of the DVD. I have a Associates in Multimedia so what do you need to know about editing video.

Well, I honestly don't know what I need. There's a small part from an anime I love that I would like as my ring tone on my phone. Essentially, I want to know A. if it's even possible, and B. if so, how to do it and what I would require to do it.

If you can find a digital copy of the Anime and then Edit the part that you want there is a program AOA Audio Extractor that can pull the audio from the file. And its free to download and use. Then Use Audacity to edit the audio file down to just the part you want. But after that I really have not idea but here is a help page I found for you.

Well, I have a program that I can use to put files on my phone via usb cable, I use it to put small wallpapers on my phones from images I have saved off the net. I was assuming I could put the audio file on my phone the same way and just apply it as my ringtone. I also have the anime on DVD, but that's where I run into the wall. I know nothing about copying DVD to computer and editing video files and so on.

Well the only other way I can think to help is to try and find the scene you want the audio from and looks for it on Google. Sorry I couldn't help more.

Well, I almost have what I want.

Downloaded the audio file, clipped what I was after and then spent the next 6 hours trying to figure out how to isolate and remove a certain sound from the track. Eventually I gave up and have settled with what I have until I can find someone capable of achieving what I cannot.
