I was wondering what the members of the PBB forum would think about a 'Mugshots' thread. A thread in which forum members (optionally) post a picture of their real life self so the rest of the forum members can see what they look like and how lovely they are.

Truthfully, I don't want to show a picture of myself.

It's not those, "Oh, I'm so ugly." reason.

For me, is uncomfortable and unnecessary for showing the picture of myself on public World Wide Web for everyone who might decide to check this website out and see pictures of people and either ignore it and continue on or try to memorize the picture; then wants to "talk" to that person do something harmful to that specific person.

I know that I'm sounding paranoid about putting a simple picture of myself on the Web, but that one picture will be seen thousands of people. I am one of those people who puts pictures of themselves in the Internet, but I stopped doing it and I'm not planning to continue.

Furthermore, I think Mr. Ronald will not approve of that suggestion.

Anyway, whether it be already stated in the rules or not, I am completely against the idea. In fact, even asking the question is very invasive into someone's privacy. This isn't a social-networking forum. As such, asking for photos of someone's real-life avatar, no matter how you gloss over it, is offensive to me.

Yes, I know other members have posted their real-life pics here. In fact, I think those threads, while innocent / harmless, should be removed as well.

Anyway, my two cents.))

The concept of Anonymity is what lets people really open up in this forum; if that was to be removed I feel that the RPing would really suffer.

no way i agree with caroline fully on this anyway i hate haveing my own family looking at pitchers of me so why in gods name would i enjoy have thousands of complte strangers looking at it.

i meen ya got a load of weired and sick people out there im fully againt this idea and will never show a pitcher of my self

yup, the whole idea is to try and post as little personal identifying information as possible while still interacting, if that makes sense. *wondering if I stated that correctly*. basically its I like this or that, but don't you dare ask for my name or address or anything like that.

Did you hear what happened to the Blizzard employee who did that as a show of faith for Starcraft II's forums?
Within an hour he had a guy call him and rattle off his address, his wifes' name and the name of his kids.
hence, no personal identifying info.

well the short answer is that I would be against it.

I'm picking up some hostility in these responses, can we keep in mind that I am not asking anyone to post pictures of themselves, this thread is purely for opinion purposes.

I voted No. I don't really know if there's something in the rules against it, but aside from how I wouldn't want to post a picture of myself, I've never really liked such threads. Pretty much all the examples of such threads I've seen, have lead to a lot of sleazy and sexually suggestive comments, and quite often to request for more revealing pictures to be posted.

I'd have to vote no as well while I'll admit such a suggestion might be ok from a conversational point of view but that would be best left to the ppl that feel they know each other well enough, and besides if that is the case then they can well do so through other means than through this website/forum.

You bring it upon yourself. You seem to only seriously chat with the girls. You act all emo and pouty and selfish when a girl shows any sort of interest to the other characters / players in the group. And you, regularly, ask about personal information... even in such "innocent" ways as a poll to see if anyone would be willing to post pictures of themselves.
