What if we had you know, a different languages option. I mean that would be helpful for people who can't speak English. Of course that might only be Vanessa. So I don't know..... your opinions. |

Yep. I'm from Denmark and so are Symphony. That means we speak danish as our main language, english as our second and I speak a little german as my third.
Henk is from the Netherlands.
English is the language that connects us all here at the forum, and I am happy with english. |

I meant that like you can change the font color. You could also change the language. It's a optional choice. |

that would take a sophisticated translation program that i have only seen on face book and it doesn't work as well as one would hope cause the other languages don't change back to English for people who can only read English ....the site might end up costing money to be able to hold that feature |

I'm not exactly sure what Dorian is getting at here, it's being explained very vaguely...
A lot of people don't like having more than one language on forums like this. Having the option to speak in another language tends to result separation. People feel left out of the group, and nasty things also have a habit of getting spread around. As English is, more or less, the unofficial standard, universal language (I think), it tends to be the language picked on for forums. I imagine that there are forums out there, with similar rulings, but for languages like Spanish, Japanese, and so forth. As nice as it would be, it isn't likely to happen, ever.
Now, a 'universal translator' option would be more likely. Though I imagine something like that would be an expensive, complicated and rather large program. An option that doesn't so much as give the option to talk in another language, but translates the entire forum into a selected language. For example, I would be able to post and read in English, but someone else would be able to use the option to read and post everything in Spanish. As there is no separation due to being unable to read parts of the forum, this is a more likely option to be chosen. Unfortunately due to differences in languages, how they are spoken, contexts and so forth, this may not be as practical as it sounds. |

Well I didn't figure one would have to pay for it. Though I guess that is a issue |

When I say "expensive", I'm talking for the administrators of the forum, not the members.
A translation program like that would hardly be anything standard, and so would be an add-on acquired independently. And I doubt anything that complicated and advanced would be just lying around on the net for free. |

As an American, English comes easily to me. I have dabbled in trying to learn Latin and Japanese, so there is still alot to learn though. |

((Being an American, I speak American... as it's way different than English... it really is.
Anyway, I thought Henk was Danish too?
Anyway, I took four years of Latin... so I can sort-of puzzle my way through a lot of Latin texts... sort of. Though, what Latin really gave me was an obnoxious ability to figure out words I'm unfamiliar with. I also took two years of Japanese... so I know enough of that to say that I don't know enough of that. Really weird thing is, because I studied Latin first, the sentance organization of Japanese is very similar to Latin.
So... yeah.)) |

I have english! does'nt always work though there have been some failures where english and the original language are still present on the translated page. |
