Hey Martina!
Another holiday coming up for the Dutch!
May 5th we celebrate the end of WWII. This evening at 20:00 everybody takes 5 minutes of silence in remembrence of all the people that lost their lives during this horrible war. (Doden herdenking)
It's kinda awkward that it also happend to be the night that PSV has to play their return match against AC Milan. They are 2 goals behind
Hope you put on your PSV thong today Martina! |

Hey cool Satch do you get the day off ?
For people in the UK, May 5 is one of those rare days where we actually live in a democracy. If you can be bothered you can go out and vote for the party you dislike the least .
Martina have you got your postal vote ? |

Oh ok!
Do you know what is celebrated on Cinco de Mayo? It means may 5th in Spanish right? Oh may fifth is also 'hemelvaart' this year. A christian holiday, so everybody has a day off also in Germany and Belgium.
Does anyone know what it is called in English? |

Don't know Satch. Talked to an English truck driver today, and I tried to explain it, but "going to heaven day" isn't known in the English speaking world. |

Found it!
as·cen·sion .
1. The act or process of ascending; ascent.
2. Astronomy. The rising of a star above the horizon.
3. Ascension
In Christianity, the bodily rising of Jesus into heaven on the 40th day after his Resurrection.
A feast celebrating this event, observed on Ascension Day.

No we don't get a day off. Ascension is a Catholic thing here I think.
President bLiar called the election on that day because 5/5/05 is a lucky number in Chinese or something (??) |
