In the world of PBB (and her others) I see a very courteous and respectful society.
The men treat women with kindness and reverence, allowing the woman to lead the courtship and position.
Their is no jealousy, with even one man paying the wages for his friend to also have sex with a woman, the most expensive of them all, Betty! And then proceed to share her with him.
The woman are in control, however they do not take advantage beyond a reasonable request (that is, no huge sums or large diamond rings), and are grateful for what they receive.
The men do go as far as drooling for a woman, but do not make low remarks or lewd gestures; they offer their interests and hope she picks them.
Sex in enjoyed openly and love is everywhere as one would go out to eat.
My impression is the PBB setting is a assault to the typically aggressive male dominating society where woman are often subdued and second class. Sad truth is dominating men not only put down women, but also other men who would put women on an equal footing, and all for personal gain. End result is unhappiness for all, even those who abuse others.
I think Cicciolina (aka Ilona Staller) was right, instead of fighting, why not love each other? She is a very interesting person in Italian history. Read up on her:

What is unique about her is before and during office she kept doing porn videos and would sometimes flash her breasts. Ironically she could never be accused of sexual misconduct because she had nothing to hide, literally and figuratively!! It goes without saying if she could be naked in front of people, she would have no fear about being a politician!
Edit: Quote from her:

"My breasts have never done anyone any harm, while bin Laden's war has caused thousands of victims." -- October 2002

I think that women in PBB can be just as generous with men as men are for women, which I admire since the later 1800's were not exactly female friendly when it came to their rights. |

Most certainly!
That is what I love about PBB!
I wish it was true in RL, at least a little. |

This is what I like about the comic. The setting allows equal respect towards others while letting them indulge in their sexual fantasies.
I can only imagine that things would be better off if other places in the world were like this. |

The way men and women behave in Bon Bon is indeed unique. I like the openmindedness and the way people are free to have sex pretty much everywhere.
However, we don't really know if jealousy is completely absent in minds of the Bon Bon residents. What we've been seeing has been sex between men and women who aren't in relationships. While it doesn't seem like any of the men try to "claim" any of the working girls for themselves, we really haven't seen anything that would make one think the same applies if feelings or a relationship is involved. On the contrary, look at how Betty reacts when Red leaves her for Mary. And how will Mary react to the information of Red having slept with Betty so recently?
As for the men making lewd remarks. There was one, but it didn't turn out too well for him. |

I remember that. That part made me laugh! Hopefully, the goof ball learned his lesson that day. |

Heh, Rnady would probably have not been able to walk very well for awhile after that. |

Indeed, there seems to be an absence of the "dark side" of most, save for when William was causing a riot, but is it just the open atmosphere in the town, or is that how much of it we've seen so far?
Is there a seedier side of town, with bar brawls, ale toting wenches and thugs on the corner (Ya know, besides that "gentleman" coon we've seen on occasion. ;P ) |
