If you're doing this by hand, the easiest way to add a texture to the forest would be to copy the outline of the area on tracing paper; then flip the sheet over and do a rubbing of the chosen texture on the tracing paper in a contrasting color. Flip the sheet back over and rub the texture onto the forest area before you scan it in. I find that coarse burlap works pretty well (I may be a terrible artist but I know all the best old tricks) 
PS... Remember to blow the graphite dust off the map before you scan it again ... I learned just how long it takes to clean the darn things the hard way

I'm doing it on paint, not by hand. But I might incorporate a similar idea soon if i can't make a decent looking forest.
Where would the herbalist shop be located?
And I'd love to add the shops and business that have appeared in the comic if people tell me what they are and where they are located.

Also, this is finals week. After this, I do a minor re-location and job hunt. Once i'm secure, I return ^^ |
