True, in regular movies and such, violent characters may be more interesting. Does the same thing apply to Bon Bon, though? Would it make more sense for William to be in Bon Bon if he was a traumatized soldier, running from his past? Would Red be more interesting if he had been trained by ninjas and carried a sword on him at all times? I don't think they would, because that's not the type of story Vanessa has created, and it's the same logic I apply to fursonas. I judge them based on how interesting, or how much sense they make, in relation to the story and the style of the comic.
If we're talking about an action movie with lots of explosions and fighting, I'd agree about how violent aspects may make a character more interesting. But if it's for a romantic comedy with highly erotic scenes, I have other standards for what makes a character interesting. |

well symponey my fursona dosnt casrry weapons of any kind
but yesh e dose use juggling swords for his shows as he is a entertianer specaliseing in dangerus stunts
also like fire breathing sword juggling and getting a volntter up and trowing rral knifes at them but always miss's by those few inches XD
but when i firsed created in in fact he was gonna be a candle maker due to that being 1895's light sorce but i will admit i kinda liked the more dangrues style of job not to be more intrresting bu beacuse i loved that idea more |

Beyond what Symphony has already stated, I'd like to point out that violence is also something that is not tolerated by CCBill, which is partly why I weeded out the assassin part of my fursona. I really appreciate the work Vanessa has done and after realizing the depth some people went to with their fursonas, it inspired me to revisit my fursona and re-establish the backstory. |

I used to portray my character carrying a weapon. Not anymore though. |

Yes weapons can be included in violent pasts but weapons can also be used to show the status of a person as well, and just because the person had a violent past doesn't mean that they will be violent as well, it could push them to be a better person

It's not that I think some characters are violent. It's really more about why we're not seeing more people come up with interesting background stories for their fursonas, without relying on them having served in the army, or have lost loved ones, or something along those lines. This really goes back to my earlier question, if a character is less interesting if it doesn't have a a violent or dark past, a violent occupation, or carries a weapon.
It's just so rare these days, to see someone make a fursona that's completely without any elements of violence or a tragic and dark past. Except if it's a female one, of course.

Nehh violence is sexy i guess xD, its hard to resist the temptation not to give your character a violent background, or a violent weapon. Heck i would give mine a tank if i wanted too. |

I went with a grim/dark past (not 40K grim dark but still...). I was on a bit of a Joseph Conrad kick when I came up Tsavo's origin, I think that might have had some influence. I also wanted to play off the old RPG trope of the bartender being a retired adventurer. Not that any of it needs to be violent to be interesting though. And now I'm rambling so I'll just be quiet. |

Yours is actually one I really like, exactly because of the whole "retired adventurer" thing. Also because I simply like the idea of the pub. I'd love to see Vanessa draw it. |

It is because so much now has been taken over by the large retail chains, especially in Britain. For example, Wal-Mart sells bread, milk and meat, clothes, groceries, tv's you name it. so fewer independent bakers, no dairies and few if any independent butchers. Who these days makes their own clothes or wears a hat, baseball caps do not count. Hardware stores are the size of aircraft hangers How we live has affected the way we consume, and certain occupations have fallen by the wayside.
This is a very old program which shows the country skills which would have been used in 1895.

Most people see that as a bad thing, i see that as a good thing. Considering it makes goods more available, and less expensive. Of course back then there were more opportunities to choose from, but the wages were meager, and there were no regulations. |

I have mentioned in past threads about things involving knights, armor and swords. Like a class or something. |

We do have a geisha character in BB who is a samurai I think. I was going to make a samurai based one as my royal avi, but went against it. Now I am a postmaster ((Mail man)) |

Henk's a trained samurai and the girl you are talking about is Sakura Harukaze. She's actualy starring with Henk and Loucille in this week's page.
And who can forget Sakura's strip-tease puzzles? |

Well with Mystic heading back to the home country, there will be an open room and the need for an assistant for the jewelry shop if Labrn is going to stay in the city for the time being, and take up a more discreet line of work akin to Randy's proffession.
As far as CCbill, that wouldn't keep things from being too violent. There has been violence in the comic, just more civil or cartoonish. Quest for Adventure is run by CCbill and they have fighting and death in their comic. Its just not in the genre Vanessa wishes to be in. I'd say its more with the times for folks to have a gun at the hip or concealed on their person than swords and armor. |
