I'm just looking forward to Randy pulling another silly stunt. I notice that he has a particular interest in Constance though at this point. Why is that?

Well Violet is a Raccoon and she's interested in horses as well |

Generous indeed. Poor Betty is having a bad day while Violet is happy as ever.
Also thanks so very much for the wonderful cameo. |

I wonder when William is going to have a bigger part in this. After all, he seems to be the story's prtagonist-ish in this story. |

So size does matter to a raccoon?

I think that's what Vanessa has been hinting at will happen now. I too would also like to see more of William, though I do like Red a lot
I'm also really looking forward to the next page. That seems to have been happening a lot lately, with these conversations and the things they reveal. |

This is turning to be quite the story! I wonder what Betty will say to Violet? |

Poor Betty... bottling up all that emotion just to have it leak out like a water to a facet. |

The downside to wishes: Sometimes, they come true
While I feel sorry that Betty is having to sacrifice a relationship with Red, it's still exciting to know Mary may soon be rescued from her "bonds". However, a lot can happen in two months...
On another not, Violet provides a nice comical relief to the overly serious nature of the situation. Well done, Vanessa on Violet's wide range of comical facial expressions. |

what's with Betty's gay vision?

Let me explain to you my theory.
Betty loves Mary. Betty wants Mary. Simon wouldn't let anyone with the slightest of lewd thoughts within a thousand miles of Mary. Installing William as a gay butler provided Betty with an inside operative who could potentially act as an outside connection between Mary and Betty without Simon knowing.
Of course, Mary doesn't know about any of this. All she knows is that Red has rocked up after years and years and is about to marry her. For all Mary knows, this could mean the end of BonBon for her. Simon probably wants it to mean exactly that.
In order to prevent Mary inadvertantly hindering any plans Betty has for claiming Mary for herself, she would need to inform Mary of her intentions. Likely William has a part yet to be played, as Betty's pawn in her grand scheme. My guess is that he would be the messenger Betty would use to inform Mary of what is happening and what needs to happen for things to go according to plan.
Of course, this is just my theory. |

Yes, here is my counter theory.
William is too greedy, William will want Mary to wed Red so he can get his money.
William will need to get blackmailed. |

I see so many things wrong with this plan of Betty's...
1. With all that money being offered for his job, William... I mean Wilson, may decide to simply follow Mr. Blue's orders and forgo the plan all together.
2. An enemy from Wilson's past may show up in Bon Bon and find out that he's working for Mr. Blue. The enemy may then come up with a way to expose Wilson and have him arrested or booted out of town.
3. Blue may end up finding out about the plan be it from an insider or an anonymous source. With this knowledge, all those involved in the plan (Betty, Red, Wilson, etc.) would then be arrested and/or kicked out of town. |

I posted those theories when I was in a hurry to go to work today, so I better explain them in detail...
1. William is known to be greedy, as evident in past issues of the comic. He's got a decent salary as a butler for Mr. Blue, which may help either pay off or increase his debts depending on his actions.
However... The reward his employer is offering for Mary successfully marrying someone (in this case, the person is Red) is quite exuberant. To a man like Mr. Greenback, that is the equivalent of winning a very large pot at poker. Being tempted by such an offer, Wiliam may decide to forgo Betty's plan altogether and help Mr. Blue out instead.
2. As shown in the first and eleventh issues, William has amassed numerous debts with several persons, including Red. Some of these individuals may try to track down William's whereabouts and find him in Bon Bon. It is also possible that some of these enemies may also frequent Bon Bon and happen to stumble across William during one of their trips.
After William's enemies find the young man, they may try to either harm him or ruin his reputation around Mr. Blue. There are two ways for this to be carried out:
A. They reveal William's past to Mr. Blue. This can be done by using documents such as birth certificates, pictographs, papers, etc.
B. They prove to Mr. Blue that William faked being gay. They would either set him up with a courtesan to "jump his bones", have a man pretend to flirt with William until he has an outburst and exposes himself, or find and show the "movie" in which William had his way with Violet.
Shown this evidence, Mr. Blue would then either arrest and/or expel William from Bon Bon under the premise of William endangering Mary's safety and purity.
3. This is one of the more elaborate and confusing ones, but bare with me. Mr. Blue knew that Mary and Betty met with one another when they were children. He also knows that Betty is the proprietor of the Delight Palace, which to him represents everything that he doesn't want his daughter to be exposed to. Thus, he would have a sharp eye on Betty.
If Betty were to exhibit behavior that was strange to him, he would grow suspicious. To investigate this, he would have someone infiltrate the Delight Palace. This could be either someone he trusts that we do not know about yet or an anonymous investigator that he hired due to his position as both Mayor of Bon Bon and Vice President of the Clan.
The insider would check the Palace for signs of suspicious activity and come across proof of Betty's plans. This would include any receipts, letters, witness accounts, or pictographs proving the involvement of Red, William and anyone else that were in Betty's plans. Red's infidelity and the truth about William's sexuality could be exposed as well.
After having gathered the evidence and fearing for his daughter's safety and purity, Simon Blue would make his move and arrest all parties involved. Betty and William would most likely be kicked out of Bon Bon for good and Red would be expelled from the Clan. It is unknown what the fates of the other parties involved would be, but it is safe to assume that they'd face either a life in prison or be expelled from Bon Bon.
Sorry for the long post, but I hope this clarifies things... |

It does. That's for explaining things, Leaf, especially that last one. Kinda threw me for a loop there. Makes a bit more sense now. |

The first of these theories is rather sound. William really needs to clear out his debts if he is ever to leave Bon Bon. However, William has also succumbed to a new feeling he is rather fond of: sex. Since Betty is the proprietor of the Delight Castle, we may end up seeing a choice presented to William: Help Simon for money, or help Betty for sex.
Onto theory number two: Bon Bon's first law, end of discussion. Even if anyone else besides Betty and Violet knew where William was, pointing people in that direction would be sheer stupidity on the behalf of the resident. Simon Blue wrote the laws and sees to it they are enforced, breaking it would not be something to be done lightly.
Theory number three is flawed in assuming too much. You state that Simon knows that Betty took over as proprietor of the Delight Castle, and yet he doesn't know who took Edelweiss's place as Treasurer for the Clan (Issue 10 Page 7). To me, if he were to know she took over as proprietor of the Delight Castle, he would have likely known that she had also taken over as treasurer. Furthermore, we should also know that Simon does not have much trust of anyone in Bon Bon, hence the lack of staff in his manor.
However, the only way to know for sure what will happen is to wait and read. |
