When I first saw the trailer for the new DmC game, I was quite put off. But, I gave the benefit of the doubt and opened my mind to consider possabilities for explaining the apparent changes that appeared. I was... hesistant.

After first seeing what the new DmC was going to look like, I realized just who was behind it and what they had previous done, namely Ninja Theory (responcible for Heavenly Sword). My fears were somewhat quelled and I found myself even a fair bit relieved because I felt that NT might actually be able to pull it off. I was... intrigued.

Having just gotten the first 3 DMC games on my PS3, I have been playing through the first one again which, for various reasons, led me to the DMC wiki where I discovered something that... rather disturbed me...

This is from the new DmC game:

Dante (also known as New Dante or DmC Dante to differentiate from the classic Dante) is the protagonist of the new, contemporary game in the series, which is developed by Ninja Theory. He is a Demon/Angel-Hybrid who lives with the occupation of demon hunting vigilante. He is a young and rebellious social outcast who resides in Limbo City, where demons seemingly influence every aspect of the world and the social condition of the humans living there.

Dante is the child of both an Angel and demon, and seemingly hunts down other demons in the twisted shadows of Limbo City, while slowly coming to grips with his ethereal powers. Dante grew up in various institutions, orphanages, youth correction facilities, and foster homes, but these were mostly operated by demons, and often resulted in torture and violence. Dante has therefore developed a deep hatred of demons and authority in general, but tries to stay incognito.

I was shocked, madenned, outraged... devestated.

But a link caught my eye and urged me to further investigate this heinous blashpemy.

It seems that DmC is not actually going to be the 5th Devil May Cry game... it is a reboot... a "reimagining".

*sigh*

I find myself back where I began when I first saw the DmC trailer as I feel an aversion to it. It is a corruption of a great series I love, yet at the same time I am somewhat relieved as it is not actually connected to the that thing I love. Confusion swirls around my head as I wonder why it is people feel the need to "reboot" shit that just doesn't fucking need it.

Now I know where Bay got his idea for Alien Ninja Turtles. :/

I don't know why, but the 'Reimagining' seems to remind me of these... spin off novels I had seen. Only read the first one to come out, but the New DmC reminds me plenty of that novel...

Now, if you excuse me, I must go cry. We have lost Dante to the Corporate conglomerate and by some odd chance, it wasn;t Ouroboros. Time to cry.

All great games usually fall with their creators, who usually don't care at the last stretch.

Nah, from what I saw on the wikia, Capcom was the one who openly kept saying they should go farther and farther from the original Dante concept.
