I have looked up several schools that will help teach me in animation, but they say to get some practice in with some software before I start. Does anyone know of any good animation software or he best animation software I can get? |

Photoshop? Adobe Flash?
Can't say if they are good or the best or totally crap; they're just the only two I really know of. |

My word! He has been confused by having been thanked!
I'm no Animations specialist, but it mainly depends on what kind of animation. Let's see if what little I know helps...
Photoshop = Image rendering, frame by frame animations and GIF images.
Flash = Interactive animation. I got nothing on this one.
Shockwave = Same as Flash, but I don't know jack about this one either.
Blender = Let's you create, render and animate 3D images. Messed around with this one a bit.
..... and that's all I know. |

The only tool I actively remember would be AutoDesk 3DS Max, my older brother used to use it for 3D-modelling and some 3D animation work. Not sure if he still uses the account he used to post this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rc0hiELrGgs but maybe I could text him. |

I will look into these when I can. I'm looking for more of like a cartoon animation software.

And just what is it exactly that you are looking for? How are these suggestions not "cartoon animation software"? |

I'm not really looking for 3D animation software. Just something that would make 2D images move. It's hard to explain. I want to do stuff like poke'mon (how it's done, that's the kind of software I want). |

Anime Studio perhaps?
You could also try Google Sketch up if you want 3D, there is a free version, and a not so free version. |
