Last time i did a iq test i did pretty well Very Happy
i never did an iq test. i think i would like to try one. i wonder if i can get one from the internet?

No those are not a good indicator. The questions are too easy and they rarely set time limits. If you want a go, call Mensa and arrange to take the Mensa home test. Send the results in and if you do well enough you will be invited to sit the full exam. When I did it there were 2 papers and they would take your score from the better of the two.

And there some good IQ trainer books you can get. It is possible to inrease you IQ by 10% by using these books before sitting the real exam. It's just a skill like any thing else and requires constant practice.

thanks, maybe i'll look into that

I saw some of the shows for that test. It's really a General Knowledge test. An IQ test is more abstract to avoid cultural bias eg completing a number sequence, however you must take it in your native language for the results to be accurate.

Yes it must of not been that one i did, as i just had a quick look through some of the questions. The questions i did was more completing number sequences, and which one was the odd one out like shapes etc

The one i did actually even had different sections for maths, puzzles etc

Cool I'll try it too. There are lots of tests around. There is a way to train yourself for these sort of tests. So that means it's not a real result.
I think each sort of test can be manipulated. Plus high scoring on IQ test doesn't always mean someone is capable of doing some sort of things. It doesn't really test on general fact knowledge and social skills. Lots of things in life are based on that.

btw when applying for a job at McDonnalds don't score too high. They seem to deny people with a high IQ. Confused

Yes very true. In older tests, also used for an indication if one was suited for a certain kind of job, you had to end series like:

1,2,3,4,5,6
Then you had to guess 7 was the next number.

These guessing of the next number is very easy to learn as there are only a few ways to construct them, basicly only adding, subtracting.multiplyng and dividing is used (in rare case roots and powers). You can combine these and that is it. So most series are easy and quick to solve once you know that principle.

1,9,3,7,9,5,..
may look strange but is it just 2 series combined:
1,3,9, --> 27
9,7,5.. --> 3
Very easy once you know

Maybe this is true for other parts too ..as the average IQ seems to rise every year . Razz

Very true bennie the average IQ has actually risen 10 points for each postwar generation. Because of this they have to re standardize the results every so often, as the whole idea is to place your score within a percentage of the population.

This is a dead giveaway that it is a skill which can be learned just like anything else (kids take more and more tests at school) and can only ever be used as a general indication of intelligence. I think Satch is right too in that it is only an indication of your ability to take IQ tests.

I see you don't take any risk of your smilie becoming a red cross !

Yep you can train to get better results ..but you cannot I think how much you train say get an IQ-result of say 150 if you start with 100 no matter how much you train. So it is I think more then an ability to take tests, you need talent/gifts too. Just like not everyone is capable of running the 100 meters in 11 seconds, nomatter how hard he trains.

If there is one example of someone scoring 80 without training and after a training 150 I am convinced that I am wrong Smile
