the aussie socceroos are playing tonight (4.30 am our time Shocked ).

we only need a draw against Croatia to go through to next round.

i think we can manage that.

does anyone(bennie) know who we play if we go through?

so far i think Argentina are the best team i have seen. i think they played pretty easy against Holland Wink

Good luck to the Aussies! Wink

If they become second in their group the will play against Italy the winner of Group E. Confused
That would be at 17:00 GMT+1 on 26th of june in Kaiserslautern.

ok thanks satch.

Italy are one of the world soccer powerhouses. i saw them play earlier. they are very tight defensively.
hmm that might be a problem for us . tough to beat Italy.

Hang on i'm getting too far ahead. we haven't beat Croatia yet Cool

PS: hello Martina. good luck with your Dutchies. forget about England. they always choke Twisted Evil

good game by the socceroos. they deserved to go through.

Australia v Italy will be a very big game down here. we have a very large 2 and 3 generation Italian population. And they are a world power.

We have nothing to lose now.

Wow that is a hard draw for Netherlands. they get drawn with Argentina and now have to play Portugal so early. very tough.

that will be a fantastic match. Go Orange.

good luck dutchies.

and marcus...you never know...you won The Ashes..maybe you win the Cup too woot

Ghana won from the USA, so USA is out ...

Australia drew against Croatia, that was enough to qualify !
They became second in their group behind Brasil Wink

Hats off to the socceroos! Very exciting game with Croatia, and a draw was good enough to get them through to the second round. G'day rastus - the next round at the bar is on you, right? Smile

As to the USA, well we didn't play very well so we didn't advance. I could make a few comments about FIFA here, but everyone saw what happened, didn't they? Nothing really necessary to say... Rolling Eyes

Team USA did not fare well Sad They did not play particularly well and probably did not deserve to advance.

Most of the Euro teams have done quite well. And Brazil & Argentina look very strong too. Ghana and Australia have surprised some but deserve to be in the second round based on how they've played thus far.

Now that the US is out, who should I root for? Curious

Irwin, the way I look at it is - anybody but Mexico! Wink

Haven't seen too much of it as I was away the entire first week. "The experts" say that Spain and Argentina could be spoilers. Didn't see Holland or Germany or England yet. But as I have said, the road to the Cup goes thru Brazil - they are the champions and the team to beat.

I went to sleep on the sofa in my living room last night, with the football channel on. I woke up a few times to see England play. The last i saw it was still 0-0

Im watching Holland play now. Seems like they are playing a very defensive game. But the problem with that is Portugal already have 1 goal. Holland need to get more people upfront thats for sure Rolling Eyes

Hope our coach Marco van Basten is reading the forum. Wink
We'll see what happens. Portugal has only 10 players in the game the second half. We need to score! Confused

Hup Holland Hup!
