Nah, I've just been playing for a LONG time...
Accidentally, it's Dragon Shaman... wholly different from a normal Shaman. I should know.... my character in the old japanese-based D&D campaign was a bona fide multi-classed shaman/ninja (and a hengeyokai - a shapeshifter - to boot)!
Sadly, being it a weirdly complex campaign, I ended up using more of the shaman and less of the ninja... although my teammates had no problems with it, particularly after I started using a nasty combo of Summon Nature's Ally and pulls from a russet bag of tricks to multiply our attack power many times
Then again, I'm better when I can cover many roles, whether I'm playing D&D, Champions, Rolemaster or whatever else... so I always look for a class/job/set of powers/you name it that allows me to feel at ease both in the front line and covering the rear. |

Ooops my bad! But nonetheless i LOVE shamans. There like the "Jack of all trades, master of none".If you ended up more of a shaman than a ninja, then you think more about your teammates!Me,i like to be that Jack of all trades, helping my alies, while not compleatly SUCK in combat.I've never playd by the old D&D rules.Damn it,there so many roleplaying games that i have missed on.I have to pull myself together and start playing a bit more(by a bit,i mean 24/7 with no pauses for anything)FMA,old D&D,ToEE!!! |

You should try the Bard (healing spells, arcane tricks and boosting powers make for a good thingy)... or, if you got the "Dragon Compendium", the Savant. Savants are TRUE Jacks of all trades... they got trapfinding, backstab, arcane magic, clerical magic, they can use most weapons and some armor... and ALL skills are class skills to them. Mind you, they only have a handful of spells and their backstab is sub-par... but let's not be too greedy! |

Looks like we're turning this to a chat-a-thon but who cares! I find that the Bard,is more of a teamplayer.Belive me,i've tried to play with him on NWN and trust me,it wasn't a pretty site when i came across the FIRST bad guy. While in a party,a bard is truly invaliuable. As for the Savant, you're right-he's the true Jack of all trades!I do love a balanced class! |

Whenever I try out a new game, a "Jack of all Trades" character always sounds like the ideal character to go for... at first. Eventually, I spend so much time trying to munchkin the character and make him as overly wide-spread as possible that I end up a bit like "Red Mage" from the 8-Bit Theater comic. Characters like Bards are obviously meant to be great support characters, meant to pick up certain abilities or skills that are lacking in the group in order to complement the skills already presented in the other characters. They're not meant to be stand-alone adventurers, at least not without focusing on one aspect or set of abilities over certain others. That's something I've had to learn to deal with over the numerous deaths of NWN Bard characters...
On a side note, someone was telling me about a pretty awesome three man party in a D&D campaign that consisted of a Bard, a Druid, and a Ranger. That would be something I'd love to test out with some friends one of these days... |

Sure but first of all,it has to be on NWN online(something i have wished for since the day i got the game)or D&D.Second a Ranger wouldnt normaly do that,he's sort of a fighter that gives up some of the fighters proficiencys, but get some cool feats and spells in return. And if your refiring to D&D,for us to play with...."The Fast One",can realy be a strain if he's a ranger. So i'd like to ask does somebody have the origginal version of NWN and the expansions?Maybe someday we can try out the multiplayer. |

One of my favorite characters was in a high-powered Drow campaign. I was the only non-drow, and the only 1st-level character. Then again, a minotaur mercenary wielding a pair of greatswords meant I was pretty well even with everyone else... |

Err, according to the supplement "Savage Species", a 1st level minotaur is equal to a 9th level human... fully able to throw his weight (and lots of it) around, I'd say! |

One of my favored creatures in D&D is a Minotaur.I like the way he throws everything around and gores people in the stomach But my all time favored is the Terrasque! It gets even better when im the DM!I put it in a dungeon garding a boss treasure for some 1-2lv chars to try and fight it!Can anyone say "i got my ass kicked"? I know you hate me... |

Want a character species that can LITERALLY throw everything around? Try an Athach. Three arms, enough strength and size to dwarf a minotaur or even an average giant, and a poison bite to boot! Only thing it lacks is a boulder throwing ability, but that can be remedied with the right feats
Oh, and isn't a Tarrasque a bit overkillish? |

"The creature looks like a portly giant dressed in shaby rags and furs.It has a third arm growing from its chest. Its wide, slobbering mouth has curving tusks that jut from its lower jaw.It has tiny eyes,a small nose, and lopsided ears-one huge and one tiny."
The olny thing more repulsive than that is the Ettin.I hope i dont come across them in a shady ally on a full moon
And yeah,its a bit overkillish.Thats why i like em'! |

Actually, an Otyugh is WAY more repulsive... a pear-shaped body with elephantine legs, barbed tentacles, eyes on stalks and a mouth filled with jagged, broken, filthy teeth... not to mention that it eats and lives in trash (which also means that any creature with the Scent ability can smell one MILES away )
By the way, I just finished a session with my new group, and they looked pretty happy with how it had gone... Well, aside from the Ghaele, whose ultra-masterwork chain shirt just became Rust Monster chow. The player of the Elan Kineticist insisted on shaking my hand, saying that he LOVES being a psionic! As far as I can see, the dwarf swordsage's player loves his abilities too, but he's less expansive (the reason of the shake is because they're using ready-made characters that I built for them... and they said they want to KEEP them for the whole danged campaign ) |

Hmm...Otyugh.I dont remember it in the MM!Well lets see now O...Ogre,Orc,ah,here it is... aaa now thats just twisted! But if we are going to gross each other out,i nominate the Gibbering Mouther! And why not the Chaos Beast! Aww,there kinda cute,no?
Rust Monster? Now thats just cruel Martin! That reminds me,someday,in the near future,i got to put my doggy brain in action and think of an adventure.I haven't playd D&D,in what,2-3 weeks! You know, giving up on D&D is a bit like giving up on smoking. You cant live with it and you cant live without it! |

Well, I could call in the Intellect Devourer as a candidate... a brain with legs is kinda revolting

Well, the Rust Monster's attack inspired him to do something quite clever... something that not many adventurers think of even after they meet their first Rust Monster. He said that he's gonna buy a friar or mage's robe, and wear it OVER his next chain shirt. The monsters' antennae have to actually TOUCH the armor for it to go foof, after all... |

Clever indeed!I realy, realy hate those critters You fight for a magic weapon against hordes of orcs, ogres and owlbears, loosing one leg,one arm and one eye just to have a rust monster come and eat it.But i understand from what you tell me that they have learned their lesson! All turns out for the best |

Sure enough... actually, he learned ANOTHER important lesson: "when you meet a creature that eats metal, step back and let the PSION block their path!"
But then, probably he felt secure because he had a wooden shield and a magical wooden longsword (yes, there IS such a thing)... He fully forgot about his (barely) magical chain shirt. Oh well, next time he won't. |

Now about the RP.I've been playing P&P and PC RPGs since 1997.That's 10 years now.And let me tell you it's all about the people.Leave the exact rules.I always change them to fit my ideas not changing my ideas to fit the rules. The main thing is to have fun acting like someone you want to be(a fierce warrior,a mighty mage,a nifty rouge and s.o.).Or if you are a DM/GM/PM... to makeup a story that is intersting and exciting. To know what your playmates want. That's what 10 years of roleplaying thought me. |

And thats the exact same thing you taught me for 10 minutes! Nothing beats the old-fashioned P&P D&D,wouldn't you agree? |
