And with the creation of Henk Cobra, we have our first reptilian avatar. I have to say that he doesn't look very friendly, and with that sword I can imagine a duel with Sakura on a rooftop somewhere...

Maybe it's just me, and trust me I mean this in no way offensive, but does it seem like we have way too many sword carrying fighter types in this story which is meant to be almost anything but violent to anyone else?

He's certainly interesting and very different from what we've seen so far. A bit scary as well, but that's probably due to the pose and the sword, and I'm definately looking forward to seeing the colored version.

And you're right, Ashton, there are quite a lot of fighter types among the avatars. Many have a fursona that either has a profession or a past that relates to violence in some form. Not that I have a problem with it at all. I've been thinking if it's because it makes for a more interesting story, if you're writing stories about your avatar or participating in RPGs.

Well no worries from me....I think Venessa will have an easy time with mine, whenver of course the time passes, and once finished he will look kind of depressed, but a bit puzzling too. I haven't made everything about him up yet, except me in Bon Bon being Kein Ramingston, and I'm the local watch and clock maker Very Happy

I agree with Ashton, there's a lot of fighter-types among the forum fursonas... mine's probably included in the mix, being a former gun-fighter, but of course I purposefully made my character more likely to use his brains than his bullets to solve problems. Plus, he's more likely to use his gunslinging to wow the crowds than to cause any actual harm, having given up his criminal past for the profession of an entertainer.

On the other hand, we do have a number of soldiers and a constable who at least have a reason to be carrying swords and sidearms.

Being among the first batch of avatars made by Vanessa from way back (along with Ksathra-blackfox, Kjolnir, and Kommy), I can't help but feel a little responsible for setting some sort of trend. Embarassed

Some would like an interactive game like the Sims, but the card game was more of a "Capture" game than anything. Plus, that person would be me, which I'll be taking back up once again. I'll be setting aside a project or two of mine to pick it back up, as a transition to get me drawing and CGing again.

Though, I think your all being a bit unfair. For one, it still can be considered a dangerous time out there, and self defense can still be handled with a hand held weapon. On the other hand, they could all just be showing that the "Liquor & Guns" store talked about in another thread is in good working condition.

As far as self defense goes, I've always found that a sturdy cane works quite well. Not just a fashion accessory but in a pinch a handy cudgel.
