I'm not a huge firearms history specialist, Johnny. I'm just happy enough to be accurate to within five years when going purely from memory.
Doubt I really need a protector, though. I am a scholar and healer. I don't think I'd accumulate too many foes. And I personally enjoy the sport of marksmanship, though I truly am horrible with pistols. A simple shotgun or rifle hidden in my home should be enough for both business and pleasure.
And Mystic, I can fully empathize with dear Jillian's line of reasoning and industry. It's nice to keep things simple at times.

shotguns and pistols as pleasure?
You better can get a sword or another handweapon.
and I think that a protector will be more fun than a piece of metal or wood. |

Your forgetting patience who might claim malpractice. Especially if you happened to throw a fit of "Mad Scientist" during a physical. *Chuckles at the thought*

{grins} Ahh, but what mad scientist would let their patients go? They can't file suit when they're locked away for the next experiment! |

It's far easier for a mad scientist to reuse their patients than to acquire new ones, most of the time, so a smart one would keep them alive. |

Was it the first or second World War where they developed the aptly named "Grease Gun?" |

I believe that would be the second one, Labrn.
And I would have you know I have yet to kill any (sapient) patients or research subjects. That anyone is aware of, anyway. Indeed, over 80% report that they have become used to the side effects of the things I've tried. Some even quite enjoy it, which disturbed me in a few particular cases.
And what is wrong with a rifles for pleasure, Mr. Cobra? I quite enjoy the challenge of it and it was taught to me as a teenager. And do not forget the very wise man who said 'Happiness is a warm gun.' |

I don't like guns so much. And I'm not familiar with the term Hapiness is a warm gun?
I prefer a good hug or some kisses on the forehead. And maybe more. |

Pure happiness is a beautiful and lovely lady (or a handsome man, of course) to share that warm bed with, and I don't mean just for the love-making. |
