Beast wars and Beast Machines don't really count for this i would say. Cause the logos never got alot of screentime. Whereas all through the first series you saw the logo's everywhere.
|
to be honest Sha`Kaar if you pay attention to a lot of the head peaces in beast wars you actually see the symbols a lot...every time optimus is in robot mode you see the maximal's symbol. and for the preds symbol you see it every time black aracnia is in robot mode...granted its for short times but you do see them a lot.
and another reason why beast wars and beast machines, would not count is because it takes place 3 years after the great war between the autobots and the decepticons. that alone makes it less interesting.
would like to bring up another point.... did anyone els know that they made beast wars II and and beast wars NEO... |

Exactly, which was why I was asking if there were any other Transformers cartoons being shown during the 90's other than those two shows...

I seem to remember watching the original cartoon during that time. They must have replayed them at some point. Of course, that was almost 20 years ago and I was very young at time. |

Guess I'm out of this discussion since I'm an american male who grew up during the 70's.Sure,I knew of Tansformers in the mid 80's, but I was watching stuff like "Fists Of The Northstar" & "Vampire Hunter D" at that time. |

I love the fact the the 80's Transformers kept questionable content to a minimum, but when the movie came out...
They were killin' characters left and right! There was a deleted scene taken out of the movie where spike says "shit", lol.
I used to have flashbacks as a kid from the scene where Prowl gets smoked... literally! |

Ah, G.I.Joe the Movie.
The memories.
The only thing I didn't like about it was the fact that they got rid of Cobra Commander. He was WAY cooler than Serpentor, who I thought was... special... but not in a good way. |

I definately agree with that! They ever explain why Cobra Commander wears a mirror over his face? |

In the movie, cobra commander was a blue-skinned humanoid snake who lived in Cobra-La.After being exposed to the mutating spores he developed multiple eyes on his face. This is probably one of many theories but it has been stated(in the old cartoon)that he indeed has a deformed face so he keeps it hidden. |

I agree with the mare and Sha'Kaar. The Decepticons and their logo are cooler. I remember those long ago shows. The autobots were... robots. With annoying human pets. The Decepticons were dysfunctional. And dysfunctional is interesting at the very least.
Particularly if you imagine Starscream and Megatron as an abusive couple. |

Ok, I'll give you that. I did find the Decepticons more entertaining, but I still like the Autobot insignia better. |

I'm afraid I was more of the Nickelodeon and Disney watcher.
I think I saw a few episodes of Beast Wars, but not enough to have a leg in this discussion. |

Let us not forget the basic fact that the Leader of the decepticons transformed and shrank into a gun, which his Lt. would use.
They also showed no disregard to anyone who might get hurt. Like those insect-ish humans that walked about everywhere. Not to mention they used People as bait for the Autobots.
They Were So Evil, and i am still amazed at how much they got away with on the show, considering it was a kids show. |

Try reading the comics sometime. Heh, that reminds me of two of my favorite bits. I don't remember exactly where they were in the comics, could even be the same story arc, but they were very funny. First is where Optimus Prime and Megatron had to work together to defeat, I want to say it was Starscream. The dialog was (more or less) as follows:
Megatron - "You know Prime, out of all the Decepticons who've betrayed me, Starscream is the worst. But after I destroy him, I rebuild him. Then he betrays me again, and I rebuild him again. And do you know why, Prime? BECAUSE I'M AN IDIOT, THAT'S WHY!"
Optimus Prime - "As tempted as I am to record that for posterity, we have more pressing concerns to attend to."
Megatron - "... Shut up."
And the second time was when Starscream had gained control of the Autobot Matrix (could be the same story arc). However when he installed it, it began to "corrupt" his programming and force him to do good deeds against his will. |

{laughs!} Starscream was my favorite character, I would have loved to see that.
The only episode of the Cybertron Transformers cartoon I liked was the one where he came back as a ghost and took over one of the existing decepticon's bodies. He only got half, but he got the half holding the gun. When he started shooting the othe decepticons, the host tried to stop him, saying "Give me that gun!" Starscream's reply, "Get one of your own!" That always cracked me up. (It was his gun, his body in fact!) |

Huh? Starscream is the one who most often used Megatron in gun mode. |

Honestly, I don't wanna sound like a pro-Autobot nut, but I always felt that Decepticons were beyond disfunctional, and straight into mentally impaired:
I mean, aside from Galvatron (that IS mentally impaired by default), Starscream just went and built the Combaticon team as lackeys... choosing the worst scum Cybertron ever had to offer (heck, Swindle sold his teammates' dismantled bodies to the humans for cash... cash he can't use on Cybertron!), the Insecticons were basically an uncontrollable plague, and the others were borderline lunatics; Astrotrain's mania for earth trains - that got him to try and assemble an army of non-transforming trains as an army - and Soundwave's PHYSICAL weakness to any music genre he doesn't like (heck, his Autobot counterpart managed to keep him at bay like a vampire by playing music he loathed!) are just little examples...
All of which explains why they, despite their obvious combat experience, were routinely routed by the likes of Cosmos, Seaspray, Wheelie or even Roller! (for those who don't know, Roller is Optimus Prime's drone, a non-transforming six-wheeled buggy with a gun, usually kept inside his trailer) |

Again, that seems to be consistent with the TV show. The comics were different. |

Hehe.. I did like Soundwave, too, though not his absurd cartoon weakness to music. Starscream, Soundwave, and even Shockwave were the characters I liked most.
For the toys, though, my brother had the original Optimus Prime. That was too cool. |

Shockwave was awesome in the comics. If I remember in the cartoon he barely had any role though and he was significantly dumbed down. |

*shrugs* I watched them plenty and enjoyed the show, but I feel I liked the beast wars series out of them all. Mostly because it had an outset goal besides "Keeping the peace."
That's why I liked the series the most. They had to adapt and fight hard to get the energon crystals and it wasn't just "we're the humans friends, we must defend." That's too easy a reason behind a series. |
