Oh, no. That's terrible. It occurs to me I have no idea where our beloved author/artist and favorite duck-billed translator reside in Italy.
I share Tearlach's sentiments. I pray for your well being, Vanessa and Martin. I hope you and the ones you care for are well. My heart goes out to those who were killed or left without a home.
EDIT: I reread the staff bios to confirm you both do in fact reside in Rome. Hopefully you and your family were far enough away to come out unscathed. |

Well I read up on it and it says that the earthquake happened in L'aquila, which is 70 miles to the northeast of Rome, where Vanessa's bio says that she lives. Man that was a bad earthquake it registered 6.3 on the scale, destroyed over 10,000 buildings and killed at least 150 people wounding over 1500 more.
To all those caught in it and/or affected by it you have my prayers. |

With the latest Bon Bon update, I'd hope to think she wasn't caught in the Earthquake. However, friends and relatives of hers is another story.
Do let us know right away Vanessa. Our fondest hopes and prayers for you. |

You do not need to worry for us... the main area of the quake was a city quite away from us, so we only got a mild aftershock. And, of course, a severe case of fright... When suddenly you feel that the building you're in is starting to sway like a large serving of jello, you run.
And I did.
The ones you need to worry for are the poor guys in L'Aquila... Most probably you don't know anyone there, but since the whole city looks like ground zero in a carpet bombing, they need all the sympathy you can spare. |

My thoughts are with everyone that was both directly and indirectly connected to the quake. To the survivors, as well as friends and families of the deceased, I pray for their wellbeing and morn their losses. |

Oh, wow.
I'm glad to hear that you, Martin, and Ms. Vanessa were all right and, like the others, I pray for the people in L'Aquila, their families and friends are all right. |

I'm glad that nobody from the site was hurt, and my heart goes out to those in Italy that have suffered. |

Well I sure hope things return to normal as soon as possible over there. Every time I hear that an earthquake rocks Italy, there's always a big mess to clean up. Good luck and take care. |

In Rome everything is fine, although we got really scared. I was sleeping at my parents' home and at 3:30 am we all woke up, the beds were shaking, the walls were making noises, for a few seconds we felt everything. My sister cried because she got really scared. After a few minutes we felt the second tremor.
For all the day everything was calm, but yesterday at 19:45 we felt another big tremor.
In Rome the earth shaked but there were no damages.
I'm very sad for the people who died ( about 250) and for the ones who lost their houses, it's terrible. |

I'm glad to hear that you and your loved ones are safe Martin and Vanessa. One must never forget the great power that nature can wield against us. Even with mans science and technology we are nothing against the catastrophic forces of nature. |

When I heard about the earthquake, I immediately thought of you guys and hoped you were fine; I couldn't remember whereabouts in Italy you were. I'm glad to hear you're fine, though my heart goes out to all those affected. |
