I am sure this subject will be quite controversial but I though I would open it and perhaps it could be turned into a rather dark RPG.
As it has been only seven years since "Jolly Jack" carved his place in history in the BonBon time line, I though perhaps he could have made his way to this city of pleasure. London having become too full of police and vigilanties searching for him, he travels through Europe following stories of a 'wicked city'. A new 'Gomorrah' where the poor drabs of White Chaple pale incomparison to the lustful wanton women of BonBon.
As an rpg members could try to track him down, become suspects themselves or even potential victims. I would like to hear you opinions on the subject. |

Wait, is this an idea for a roleplaying thread, or an idea for a game completely unconnected to the discussion boards?
It's an interesting concept, definitely befitting the era of the "Penny Dreadful" novels. Still, I have this feeling that Jack the Ripper has been over-done, though I suppose if one were to spin it instead as the work of a copy-cat or some other similarly motivated killer... |

That sounds brilliantly interesting, Tearlach, it would certainly offer a thread we don't often see around here.
Id be 100% involved so long as I wasn't the "director". |

That does sound like a neat idea, so long as it doesn't offend our hosts...
If it starts up, I'll prolly join. |

My apoligies gentlemen for taking so long to reply.
i would enjoy acting as administrator/GM for the rpg, provide as Chaosengine pointed out that it is not offensive to our hosts.
If at any time any one should object to the subject, content ect. Then the matter will be dicussed and if necessary the rpg altered or closed down altogeather.
I will post later with an out line of the story and rules ect.
I look forward to interacting with all of you. |

Not sure what role an old yank dog would have in a story like this, but being a fan of such history, I'd have to say I'd be in. |

It is a role playing thread set in BonBon, the original idea was to have the original 'Ripper' visit BonBon, but your idea of a copy-cat killer has inspired me to try something along more creative lines.Thankyou.
I hope you will join in. |

Oke I'm in but you must give the introduction of the rp and what are the rules to reply. I would like that there are some sex scence in the rp oke.
|
As I have stated elsewhere I will relate the introduction and setting. I will also roleplay the protaganist and various non-player characters within the rpg.
As to sex scenes I will leave that to the indvidual players to play those out amongst themselves, as the basic idea for this forum rpg is to escape from the "Bonk-fest" rp-ing that is currently previlent. |

Oh shit!
I forgot, no one knows a thing about my fursona. I never got around to posting it.
Tearlach just in case I get pulled away from my pc here is a role I can fit into for this rp, "suspect". He is a very quiet individual who stays off to the side and keeps to himself for the most part. He is ex-military (currently a head hunter) so he has quite a few weapons with him (not helping his case being accused of the murders). |

Well that of course is up to you I will provide the basic senario and play various non player characters including the protaganist.
|
Well, if you put it that way, I suppose I'd have to just be curious enough to snoop on in. |

I dunno.I think the whole idea of a crazed mass muderer to be a bit against the nature of what Vanessa was trying to do when she and Ronald started to create the BonBon universe.I could be worng, but it has a bad vibe to it. |

I agree. A rash of lingerie thefts might be more appropriate. |

Foxonian made a pretty good point.
Someone should e-mail Ronald and/or Vanessa and get the thumbs up, or maybe get them to make a post in this thread *waves arms frantically a-la-attention-get*.
If it gets shot down, Tearlach, it would still be awesome to get a mystery or suspense RP of a lighter nature going. Xebulon made an appealing suggestion |

Nice suggestion, Xeb.
Part of me wants to say "go for it", and anyone not interested in a suspenseful murder-mystery scenario need not be involved in the RP. On the otherhand, we are talking about a fictional, idealized town that seems to have not real problems with crime (save for the occasional lusty raccoon burglar), it might rub some people the wrong way to throw in something as terrible as prostitute murder. It can be a bit disconcerting to place Jack the Ripper into this "adult playground" atmosphere. |

This is a tricky subject because it asks how far can creativity go before it is considered too "weird" for the original subject matter.
I personally don't see a problem with wanting to put in a more darker, intense drama. However, it could offend some and it's hard to say where the line is.
If I would have to guess, however, a murder in the town of Bon Bon would be a majorly shocking event. It's one thing for Jack the Ripper to prowl the streets of London and stab prostitutes in the dark. Any large city has its seedy underbelly, and bad people tend to thrive in those type of environments. I got the impression that Bon Bon is smaller and also liberal about its activities. If violence were to start spilling out in the streets, then this would mean that controls would have to be put into place, or at least there would be a definition change in attitude. I think that there would be a lot of unforseen consequences. |

Well it would seem that there are as many against, as for the rpg.
To save any argument. may I suggest that the rpg be moved to the general disscusion board and the location changed to another european town/city or even a different continent?
The characters/avatars can then still be used it would be just that they have travelled to this other town on business or another adventure and then become inbroiled in this one.
I am open to suggestions for an alternative location, preferably somewhere exotic: North Africa, Japan, China, Hong Kong (at the time a strong British protectorite) or any other, which ever gets the most response.
I hope this will statisfiy all parties and that no offence is taken or given. |

I'm afraid to say, but you forgot to state what species your fursona/avatar was. I will assume from your name a "fox" but any particular species? Red, gray, Artic, silver, fennic or maned. |

Britain would be a good place for a copycat to rear his ugly head. That and Ernest spent some time there before traveling to Bon Bon. |

Chaosengine has suggested Britain. If so why not the Scottish city of Edinburgh. Famous for it's castle, it's haunted underground vaults/city and of course it's medical university.
I think that would be a excellent location, thank you Chaosengine for your suggestion. It would also suit my own avatar, who is scottish and studied at the engineering dept. of the university. |

I really like the idea of a RP with someone acting as DM, as well as the overall story of the RP being planned in advance. It's something I've been hoping to see.
Nice initiative by you, Tearlach. I hope it'll be a great succes.
|
well it will be my first attempt to dm/gm and I hope I am worthy of the challenge. I also hope to see you Ms Symphony in the game and any other members all are welcome to join.
As well as having an over all games master I think that this rpg will be also different in that it will have a conclusion; the protaganist will be caught, escape, die or be exposed.
I am currently forming ideas and senarios for the game and hope to have it up and running by the evening of the 21st April GMT on the general forum. |
