I saw it today. It's awesome. Great special effects, excellent storyline with good plot twists. Of course, there's also the fact that Gambit, part-inspiration for my fursona, was in it.

I'd never come across some of the characters before this movie. Interesting. |

| I saw it last night, and played and beat the game a couple of days before that. Both the movie and the game were excellent. |

If they do make a Deadpool movie, retcon and make as sure as hell that it's based on this version more than anything!

Personally, I hope there will be a Gambit one. I doubt it though.

I'd never actually heard of Deadpool before I heard about this movie. Seriously. |

He's a fairly recent character, by comic book standards, having been first introduced in the early 1990's. He's known as the "merc with a mouth", and is fairly comedic despite his violent lifestyle. Like most 90's-era antiheroes, he started out as a badguy (usually an adversary to X-Factor), but became popular enough to be teamed up with other heroes. He was teamed up with Cable for a while in their own comic title, Cable & Deadpool. He also was involved in the Weapon X program, just like Wolverine and Sabretooth, in the comics (thus his appearance in the movie, I suppose). Unlike the movie, however, Deadpool is supposed to be greatly disfigured, which is why he wears a mask all the time.

He's mostly known for his slapstick style humor and jokes that "break the fourth wall" (that is, he seems to actually know that he's in a comic book and comments about it, as opposed to every other character). Having not seen the movie yet, I don't know if this has been transferred over to Ryan Reynold's performance or not (maybe in a wink to the camera or something, I don't know)

Oddly enough, his costume design is fairly similar to that of Deathstroke the Terminator from DC's Teen Titans. As a sort of in-joke, his creators gave Deadpool's real name as "Wade Wilson", sort of in honor of Deathstroke (whose real name is "Slade Wilson", and who is actually called "Slade" in the Teen Titans cartoon series instead of "Deathstroke"). Of course, Deadpool and Deathstroke's personalities are pretty much completely opposite of each other, so their similarities are only in the costume... |

Deadpool is a brilliant character, and I thought Ryan Reynolds did an amzing job. I thought the best parts of the movie were when he was on screen.

Im psyched for the Deadpool movie. |

| Considering that Gambit AND Deadpool are in it, I'm ashamed at myself for still not having seen it. Then again, I have had other things on my plate that take precedence over the pleasure of paying $8 for 2-3 hours of fun. |
