Ok, with college coming up and my laptop starting to show its age, time for me to upgrade to a new computer. Rather than go for a store-bought computer, however, I want to build my own. Since I don't remember 100% of my out-dated naval computer training, I want to make sure all my components are compatible.

Barebones Kit components:

Foxconn 45cm socket 775 motherboard

Pentium 4 processor

---------------------------------------------

Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 ST3500418AS Hard Drive

Galaxy GeForce 8400 GS Video Card

Samsung 16X DVD-ROM/32X CD-RW Internal Drive

Ultra LSP750 750-Watt Power Supply

Sabrent 802.11n Wireless PCI Controller Card

My main concern is with the video card. Other than that, pretty sure the rest will work together. I know my RAM, cooling fan, and main peripherals are good, just wanted to confirm the rest of the compatibility before I purchase, though my parts may change depending on stock. Current concern being with the DVD-ROM drive, as it is low on stock at the moment. |

all should be able to work together on any motherboard but for the vid card make sure the mb has a pciE slot. but i would not buy a barebone system i'd buy all of them sepretly. but if you want a barebone to get a bit of a head start get an AMD AM2 or AM2+ socket barebone. and if you still want a laptop i'd go for an hp. i've tryed to run it into the ground and make it crash but it won't quit.

(barebone example: http://satacomputer.com/product.php?productid=8553&cat=122&page=1 (not an advertasment. u can't buy from them unless you live in edmonton. so don't say i'm puting up spam)) |
