Added another piece to my DA, I tried drawing Niam, with a Mane to see how well it would look and I'm trying to decide whether or not to keep it, take a look and let me know what you think!

Yeah, I think I'm going to keep the mane, and I'm drawing up another full body portrait with a full mane this time.

I kind of like him w/out the mane... Just curious, but whats you yiffstar account name? I'm going to search you.

Actually I don't really use my yiffstar account, once I get better at drawing I might try to post some stuff there, I hardly ever check it, the handle is 'niammaxtor.'

The reason I've redrawn Niam is because I felt that the original wasn't 'Lion' enough. So I worked on the face some more and shortened the tail a considerable amount. And believe it or not it is actually easier for me to draw the version with a mane than the other. I don't know why though...

I draw by hand and color with the computer after I've scanned the images.

I'll either draw and color by hand and never get it onto the computer, or draw it on the computer and totally suck.

i think they both look very lion-ish, the tials are a dead give-away Wink

so, you draw them by hand, ink the images, then scan them into a computer and color em? i've been working striaght from my tablet(havent produced anything im really proud of Crying or Very sad

)

Personly I sketch in hand and scan the picture into my laptop. There I do the coloring with my touchpad on the laptop. I only use my tablet to make effects.
And I wouldn't do it any other way if I had the choice.

I basically take out a piece of paper,draw a few lines,look at how awful it looks,then crumple it up and go back to writing.Yeah,I can't draw worth a heck.That's why I appreciate all the artistic talent we have here in PBB(and not just Vanessa!).You guys all do a wonderful job! ^.^

It takes me forever though, I just bought a scanner thats big enough to scan the pages from my sketch book, you should see my doodles some time, they are pretty horrible. I'm trying to get better, I used to be really good at drawing back when I was in High School, but not that I work as a draftsman its really messed with my freehand drawing, like I naturally try to make squares and stuff... Shocked

Even though I'm not as good as many of the other artists here, I hope to attend Art School someday, and become a concept artist for Video games. That's pretty much my only goal in life right now.

if it makes you feel any better, niam, your figure drawings are better than mine Embarassed

. i took some drafting classes in high school myself and, even though i found the subjects interesting, all the required presicion(spelling that wrong) took all the fun out of it for me. if you feel like its more natural to use measurments and stuff in your work, then you might find an interest in three dimensional artwork.
