I've noticed a new thread on the General section of the forums talking about learning Krav Maga through the internet.As the resident expert I've spent many years training under highly qualified instructors and urge the members here to do the same if you choose to take martial arts.I say this because learning through videos,books,and the internet can be very dangerous as you have no way of correcting any mistakes you make and that will cause serious damage in the long run.I realize everyone here is an adult capable of making their own decisions,but I just don't want people to be scammed or hurt from learning through those mediums I just mentioned.

You know, Mr. DesertWolf...
I wish I have questions to ask about the fighting, marital art skills you posted, even the history behind each of them, but I can't seem to have one because, to me...I hope I am not being offended, (I don't blame you if I am) the only difference I see from each fighting skill is the title itself.
I mean...the different types of fighting skills are almost similar to another fighting skills even if they are both learned and taught in very different countries or continent.
Or maybe is coming out a mouth of a person whom does not have any experiences in martial art fighting skill what-so-ever.
I hope you kinda understand what I am saying, Mr. DesertWolf. If not, then that is alright. I just want you to know how I feel and express my thought after reading and watching some of the fighting skills you currently posted. Even if my post is short and less explanation. ^^! And again, I hope I'm not begin offended. ^^! |

| I don't think your being offensive at all Lidia.True many Western martial arts are similar because they came from the same roots, the difference comes from how they are used and practiced.For instance in France, the streets were so dangerous for nobles to be walking around many of the nobles began using savate which uses street boxing which looked similar to London's bare-knuckle boxing to help defend themselves while walking the streets day or night. |

strange i only just got to reaidng this forum and started to look at my own fighting style (if it can be called that), i earned a black belt in taekwondo but given it is a somewhat raw martial art with little emphasis on true combat i had to modify my techniques a bit so i could use it in an actual fight and i was surprised to see how many of these styles i had somehow managed to incorporate into my fights, i use mostly fist techniques which i place a lot of weight into so i can break a persons guard and but i also use kicks (my favorite is the hammer kick) to put my opponent off guard and a strikes similar to snake style for hitting weak areas like the solarplexis and the throat though most recently i was forced to use my elbows and knees similar to muay Thai (yeah darwin has a lot of gangs, not real gangs just unsupervised teens who beat up people they catch alone in groups of ten or fifteen).
i was at one point inspired by the story of chu chulaine to practice spear techniques (staff with more emphesis on jabs) but i emulates his style bu using a lot of circular motions and slashes.
though to be more realistic i often carry a heavy chain (if the cops ask it is my bike chain) which i have developed some moves for |

| If you watch the recent Southern Praying Mantis videos you probably noticed the knuckle of the index finger poking out from the rest of the fist.This is called the "Phoenix-Eye Fist".The knuckle is the only part of the fist to strike opponents by hitting their vital points quickly without letting the opponents get away. |
